Review: Grand Hyatt Seattle

This Grand Hyatt Seattle Review is from our 2019 stay at the hotel and includes our Grand Hyatt Seattle video, photos of the room and the Health Club, and tips on getting a confirmed upgrade at time of booking and complimentary breakfast for two, regardless of World of Hyatt status.

Grand Hyatt Seattle Location and Check-In

The Grand Hyatt Seattle is located at 721 Pine Street, about a 20-40 min. drive from Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA), depending on traffic. It's also possible to take the Link light rail, which takes about 40 minutes to the Angle Lake Station, by the airport.

The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Pike Place Market, and about a 20-25 min. walk (or 15 min. ride on the Seattle Monorail) from the Space Needle and the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit, which I highly recommend.

Grand Hyatt Seattle King Room

Regular rooms at the Grand Hyatt Seattle are 376 square feet (35 sq. m.) and are located on the 10th floor or higher, in this 30 floor building. King City View rooms are on the 20th floor and up, while King Bay View rooms are on the 22nd floor or higher.

I actually find the Grand bed as comfortable as Park Hyatt beds (which is to say, still too firm).

I appreciated that there was a power outlet on the base of the lamp on the nightstand, handy for charging phones within easy reach. I hate when the power outlets are behind the nightstand or desk, and hard to access.

The bathroom, as expected for this hotel class, had just one sink, and the toilet wasn't walled off, it was part of the main bathroom.

The shower had a regular shower head, not a rain shower.

There was a separate soaking tub:

Bath products, as is typical for Grand Hyatt, were June Jacobs' Green Tea and Cucumber:

I did like the bathrobes, which were terry inside, but with a soft exterior.

Grand Hyatt Seattle Health Club

The Health Club is on the hotel's 4th floor. The fitness center is open 24/7, and has a variety of machines and free weights.

The Steam Room, Sauna and Jacuzzi are open 6am-10pm. There are also separate men's and women's changing rooms.

Hyatt Prive Breakfast Menu

The Grand Hyatt Seattle doesn't have its own in-house restaurant (it leases space to Ruth's Chris Steak House, but the complimentary Hyatt Prive breakfast isn't available there). Hence, the Hyatt Prive complimentary breakfast is only available via room service. Here's the breakfast menu:

The Verdict

We only had a quick overnight at the Grand Hyatt Seattle, which was comfortable enough, although I find the hotel's main common areas and the rooms too dark inside; I prefer the better natural light at the Hyatt at Olive 8, a quick 4 minute walk away. Unfortunately, the Hyatt at Olive 8 isn't a Hyatt Prive member, however.

If you've recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Seattle, what was your experience?
