Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam Opens December 20

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An Vietnam

The Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An will be The Four Seasons' first resort in Vietnam, starting December 20, 2016. While The Nam Hai has been the most luxurious resort in the Hoi An area for years, I'm excited that Four Seasons will be managing the resort, helping to enhance already high service quality at the resort, and also enabling TravelSort Clients to enjoy Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits at the property.

While the exact Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits haven't been released yet, I expect them to include a spa credit and to be as follows:

  • Daily full American breakfast for two people per bedroom, served through In-Room Dining or in the hotel restaurant (including buffets)
  • Spa credit of USD100 once during stay (not applicable to products)
  • Upgrade of one category, based on availability at time of check-in (excluding signature suites and villas)
  • Complimentary basic Internet in all guest rooms, complimentary premium Internet in all suites.
Because the existing resort villas are being renovated in preparation for Four Seasons to take over management of The Nam Hai, I recommend waiting until Four Seasons starts managing the resort to visit, although word is that guests visiting during the renovation are being offered 10% off rates, for those already booked there during this renovation period.

FAQ

Where is Hoi An and The Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai?

Hoi An is in central Vietnam, and the closest airport is Da Nang (DAD), about a 30 minute drive away. There are nonstop flights to Da Nang from other Vietnamese destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, as well as international destinations, including:

  • Bangkok (Bangkok Airways, Vietnam Airlines)
  • Beijing (China Eastern)
  • Hong Kong (Dragonair, HK Express)
  • Osaka (Jetstar Pacific)
  • Seoul (Asiana)
  • Siem Reap (SilkAir, Cambodia Angkor Air)
  • Singapore (Jetstar Asia, SilkAir)
  • Tokyo Narita (Vietnam Airlines)

The Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An is right on the beach, about a 15-20 minute drive from central Hoi An.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Hoi An?

The best time to visit Hoi An is February to early August, during the dry season. I highly recommend avoiding visits September-early January, during the rainy season. It's warm and somewhat humid all year round, but the hottest months are May-August, so if you're hoping for dry weather and slightly cooler temperatures, February-April are your best bet.

What Is There to Do in Hoi An?

Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a well-preserved old quarter in the style of a 15th century southeast Asia trading port. That said, the town is less about museums than culinary riches, and one of the most popular activities in Hoi An is visiting the local markets for provisions and learning to cook both classic Vietnamese dishes and local specialties such as Cao lầu (braised spiced pork noodle with local greens).

What Is There to Do at The Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai?

Since Hoi An itself has become very busy, the resort offers a welcome tranquil respite. In addition to the white sand beach, The Nam Hai already offered tennis, badminton and basketball courts, and The Four Seasons, as part of the current renovation, is adding a new Kids for All Seasons Kids Club (always complimentary, unlike the kids clubs at Ritz-Carlton and Fairmont resorts, which require payment), a new Beach Bar, and some new water sports.

What to Combine with a Visit to The Four Seasons The Nam Hai?

For a Vietnam-focused trip in February, March or April, I would recommend staying at The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, The Four Seasons The Nam Hai Hoi An, Amanoi in the Nui Chua National Park by Vinh Hy Bay (closest airport: Cam Ranh), and The Reverie Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City.

Or if combining it with a larger trip to Southeast Asia, I would suggest including Siem Reap with a stay at Amansara, Hong Kong with a stay at Four Seasons Hong Kong (make sure to book Executive Club access) or The Upper House, and Amanpulo on a private island, which is a 1 hour charter flight from Manila (Manila is just over 2 hours nonstop from Hong Kong).

Alternatively, combine it with Singapore if you're arriving or departing in Singapore Suites on the A380 or Singapore Business Class, and include Bali and/or Borobudur in Java (JOG) with a stay at Amanjiwo.

Or, if arriving or departing via Bangkok, where I recommend a stay at The Siam or The Peninsula Bangkok, combine it with a visit to Chiang Rai, with a stay at Anantara Golden Triangle or Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, or Chiang Mai, with a stay at The Four Seasons Chiang Mai, or Koh Samui, staying at The Four Seasons Koh Samui.
