Citi AAdvantage Cards Cutting 10% Mileage Rebate for Awards

Citi AAdvantage Cards Ending 10 Percent Mileage Rebate for Awards

Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Cards Will Lose the 10% Mileage Rebate When Booking AAdvantage Awards, as of May 1, 2019. This has been a great benefit, worth up to 10,000 AAdvantage miles a year per AAdvantage member, which we've used many times. AAdvantage miles are some of our favorite frequent flyer miles, which we've redeemed for Cathay Pacific First Class, JAL First Class, Qatar QSuites Business Class, Qantas First Class, JAL Sky Suite Business Class, Cathay Pacific Business Class, and more.

Here's the email we received about the change:

Citi AAdvantage Cutting 10 Percent Mileage Rebate

If you have a Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card and book AAdvantage award travel by April 30, 2019, even if travel is for a future date, you'll earn 10% of your redeemed mileage back, up to 10,000 AAdvantage miles for 2019. I value an AAdvantage mile at ~2 cents per mile, so 10,000 AAdvantage miles is ~$200, although typically we redeem for awards at a value of 4-6 cents per mile or more.

Will you redeem AAdvantage miles before May 1, 2019, earning a last 10% mileage rebate before this benefit disappears?
