Lufthansa First Class Awards on the 747-8 between Chicago ORD and Frankfurt FRA are Available to United MileagePlus up to 30 Days in Advance. This is a welcome chance to snag seats for a couple or a small family further ahead than usual, since typically Lufthansa First Class awards are available 15 days in advance at the most. While Lufthansa is operating First Class to Newark EWR, Miami MIA, Los Angeles LAX and San Francisco SFO, so far we haven't found advance award availability released to partners on those routes. If you find Lufthansa First Class award seats available to Star Alliance partners on those routes 16-30 days in advance, please let us know in the comments.

While other Star Alliance partner miles should also be able to book these sometimes with fewer miles, United MileagePlus is a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards, which makes earning United miles easier thanks to 5X on all Amazon and Whole Foods spend when purchasing Amazon and Whole Foods gift cards at office supply stores with the Chase Ink Cash or the (now unavailable) Chase Ink Plus, or on supermarket spend this quarter with the Chase Freedom (see Activate Chase Freedom 5X for Q3 2021 for Grocery Stores, Streaming). There's also the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which earns 3X on all travel and dining, and the 100K Chase Sapphire Preferred, which earns 2X on all travel and dining.
8/5/21 Updated: The Lufthansa First Class Terminal, which is currently closed, will reopen September 1, 2021. In the meantime, the Lufthansa First Class Lounge Frankfurt, which is located in Terminal 1, Concourse A, is open. The lounge is open daily from 6:00AM until 9:30PM.
Admittedly, my husband was a tad disappointed with his Lufthansa First Class 747-8 experience, but I put that down to being spoiled by Asian airlines, such as ANA First Class Suites and JAL First Class. Here's his Lufthansa First Class 747-8 Review:
