How Do You Use the Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificates from the 100K Aeroplan Card? Most airline credit card bonuses are miles or points that are deposited directly in a frequent flyer account, but the Aeroplan card is different: the bonus is in the form of two 50,000 Aeroplan flight reward certificates that are deposited into your Aeroplan account after meeting the $4000 minimum spend requirement.
For those who signed up for the Aeroplan card wait list, which provides an extra 10,000 bonus Aeroplan points, note that the deadline to apply for the card to receive the wait list bonus is February 15, 2022. You must apply using the link emailed to wait list recipients (we received ours on 12/2/21).

How to Find Your Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificates
The first step is to find your Aeroplan flight reward certificates. After logging into Aeroplan, go to “My Aeroplan” then “Benefits” to see your 2 reward flight certificates.
.
Using Your Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificates
You might think that if you have two Aeroplan flight reward certificates, it would be possible to apply one of them after selecting an award flight. You would be wrong. Instead, when in the “Benefits” section, click on the “Redeem” link, then the blue “Continue to booking” button.
Then, after doing your flight award search, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to find the blue “Credits and discounts” link. Click on it, check the box, and click the “Apply 1 reward” button.
.
Having applied your certificate, you'll be able to select your award flight and have the 50,000 Aeroplan points deducted from the award cost you pay. Note that if your award costs more than 50,000 Aeroplan points, you'll need to have enough additional Aeroplan points in your account to cover the difference.

FAQ
Must Flight Awards Be on Air Canada?
No, award flights can be booked on any Aeroplan partner, including ANA First Class, ANA Business Class, Austrian Business Class, EVA Business Class, SWISS Business Class, United Polaris Business Class, and more.
.
When Are the Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificates Deposited?
The flight reward certificates are typically deposited the day after your statement closes for the statement period during which you've met minimum spend.
.
Can Flight Reward Certificates Be Combined?
No: if you're reserving an award that costs 100,000 Aeroplan points, you can't use both your reward certificates to book it, only one of them. But if the award is for a roundtrip itinerary, you could book it as one ways, using one certificate for the 50K outbound and another for the 50K return.
.
If the Award Costs Less Than 50,000 Points Do I Get a Refund?
No, you won't get any points or a remaining certificate value if you reserve an award that costs less than 50,000 points. But keep in mind business class and first class awards tend to be a better value use of frequent flyer miles and points, in terms of getting a higher valuation per mile or point redeemed.
.
Which Points Transfer to Aeroplan?
Chase Ultimate Rewards and AMEX Membership Rewards points transfer 1:1 to Aeroplan. Marriott Bonvoy points transfer 3:1, with a 5000 point bonus for every 60,000 points transferred.

Can one of my Flight Reward Certificates be applied to my wife’s ticket?
Yes, you can use these reward certificates to book travel for others, as long as you have enough in your Aeroplan account via the reward certificates and any additional Aeroplan points you may need.
Thank you. That is really a great help. One more question: Do you know what happens if I book a flight using (for example) all 50,000 miles of one of the certificates, and then have to cancel the trip later? Does it restore that one travel certificate, or do the unused miles go into my plain mileage account or is the certificate just cancelled?
You’d receive the reward certificate back in your account, along with the additional Aeroplan points (if any) that were used to book. Keep in mind, however, that for the reward certificate to be returned to your account, you must still have the Aeroplan credit card. If you cancelled the card you would forfeit the reward certificate.
thank you for being the ONLY website that adequately explained to me how to use the certificates. Even Air Canada employees didn’t know how…
hi. if i book a 35k ticket for 2 people, can i use only 1 certificate plus 20k points?
No, each Aeroplan award certificate can only be used towards one award, so if the award is less than the certificate, as we mention in the FAQ, you don’t get a refund of the points. To maximize value you’ll want to use each certificate to reserve an award that costs at least 50,000 Aeroplan points.
Is it the new website or just my profile, but it seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to book an award ticket that does not take you via Canada. JFK to FRA – ALWAYS via Toronto….. fairly pointless if every trip adds on those legs?
Hilary, if I cancel the flight and keep the card for another year then the eupgrades, travel certificate, cash and points will be redeposited, is that correct? If I cancel the card then I will lose the upgrades and travel certificate, is that correct? Thanks so much. Nicky
Yes, exactly; assuming you still have the Aeroplan credit card, when you redeposit your flight reward certificate and points will go back to your Aeroplan account (note also that Aeroplan points expire in 18 months if there’s no activity in your account). If you cancel the Aeroplan credit card you’ll lose the reward certificate and eUpgrades, they won’t go back to your account.
Hi,
I’ve booked my flights using my certificates but have not completed the trips. If I cancel the credit card before the flight, will I lose flights booked with the certificates?
Thank you.
