Encore at Wynn Las Vegas Location, Check-in and Lobby
Encore at Wynn Las Vegas is located on the north end of the Strip, at 3131 Las Vegas Boulevard South. A taxi from Las Vegas airport (LAS) will run about $20. If going elsewhere along the strip, you can of course take a taxi, but the Deuce bus is also an option if you’re not in a huge rush. Walk out of the property and cross to the other side of the street and go right to the bus stop. The Deuce comes every 15 minutes during most of the day, and every 20 minutes late night until 7am.
Since I arrived rather late, around 10pm, there was no line to check-in. By the same token, however, the regular Panoramic View King rooms with a strip view were all taken, so I was given one with an accessible bathroom.
Encore at Wynn Las Vegas Panoramic View King
Encore at Wynn is meant to be a quieter property than the Wynn, and perhaps the security guards, who checked key cards of everyone walking to the elevator bank, help ensure this.
The overall décor on the ground floor, where the casino is, seemed a bit kitschy, although of course there’s much worse in Vegas. Here’s one of the hallways leading to the casino:
Once on the 53rd floor, however, the design was more modern looking, although still with the red accents that designer Roger P. Thomas borrowed from the Wynn Macau in China.
The Panoramic View Suites are very spacious, at 745 square feet. You enter into a hallway with either the bathroom on the right or left.
Next is the bedroom area, with either one King bed or two Queen beds. As I wrote in Encore Las Vegas Upgrade Tips, you’re less likely to be upgraded if you have a room with two Queen beds, since these are in high demand. Apparently my accessible room hadn’t been checked out too thoroughly, since I found some hairs in the hallway and also one of the two bedroom lamps had a burned out bulb.
The bed itself had comfortable, soft linens, although was a bit firmer than I’d have liked. I slept fine in it, given how tired I was, but it’s no Four Seasons bed.
I liked that the electronic controls next to the bed were simple to use to open/close the drapes and turn off all the lights at once. I’m also a fan of the privacy button, since it’s easier than having to open the door to hang a “do not disturb” placard.
Beyond the bedroom area is a living room area with a black L shaped sofa and a small desk with two chairs. Note that WiFi access for 24 hours costs $15.95.
There was a chilled mini bar and plenty of snacks for sale—but be careful not to touch or remove any that you don’t intend to purchase, since you’re automatically charged after 60 seconds.
I liked that the bathroom has dual vanities with his and hers sinks.
There’s a soaking tub and separate glass enclosed shower, although just a regular showerhead, not a rain shower. The placement of the showerhead was fine for me, at 5'7, but could pose a problem for tall folks, such as my husband. Not sure why the showerhead couldn't have been put higher up, or a rain showerhead used (given that Encore opened in 2008).
Bath amenities at first seemed to be the Wynn’s own brand, but on closer inspection are made by Molton Brown exclusively for Wynn Resorts.
One of the best aspects of the Panoramic Suite is the view of the strip:
Encore at Wynn Las Vegas: Is Upgrading to a Tower Suite Worth It?
If you’re wondering whether the upgrade from a Panoramic View King to a Tower Suite is worth paying for (as opposed to receiving a complimentary Virtuoso upgrade), I’d say emphatically no. That’s because the Panoramic View Suites and Tower Suites are exactly the same in size and how they are appointed. The only differences with the Tower Suite are:
- Private entrance, with dedicated concierge desk
- Complimentary bottled water and fragrance in the room
- Complimentary newspaper
Note that the complimentary continental breakfast is NOT given to you if you upgrade into the Tower; you’d need to book a Tower Suite from the outset to have the continental breakfast included. Of course, if booked with Virtuoso, you receive a $30 breakfast credit per person per day anyway, so it becomes a moot point.
A better bet would be to book a Tower Suite with Virtuoso benefits, and hopefully be upgraded to a Parlor Suite.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pools close at 8pm, so they were already closed by the time I got back to the hotel from my Virtuoso Week meetings. Encore guests also have access to the Wynn pools. This is the adults only pool at Encore:
The Verdict
Encore at Wynn Las Vegas has a very nice hard product—spacious, modern Panoramic View suites. Suites on upper floors have great views of the strip and are quiet. I recommend avoiding lower floors, especially on weekends, when you may hear noise from the nearby nightclubs.
While my stay was short and I didn’t encounter any major service issues, I didn’t enjoy finding hairs in the hallway or the burned out light bulb. Minor, but details matter if the goal is a 5-star experience.
