This Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo Review is from our stay earlier this year. The hotel opened in early 2018 and celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2023.
.
Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo Location, Lobby, and Check-in
The Hyatt Centric Ginza is located at 6-6-7 Ginza in Chuo-ku, about a 13 minute walk or 5 minute drive from Tokyo Station and an 8-10 minute walk from Hibiya Park. Haneda Airport HND is a 20-35 minute drive, depending on traffic.
.
The lobby is a mixture of traditional and retro, with a bonsai tree, panels recalling traditional shoji screens, and arcade games such as Pac-Man and Space Invaders:
.
It seemed to take ages for the associate to check me in, which somewhat belied the “lifestyle hotel” image Hyatt Centric properties use to market themselves, but eventually I had my room key.
.
Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo King Room
We were in a King Room (376 sq. ft.) which accommodates up to two guests (no rollaway bed is permitted in these rooms). Similar to the Thompson Madrid and Kimpton Barcelona, there isn't a dedicated closet, just a rack with hangers by the entrance.
.
In the center of the room is an island with a sink and vanity on one side, and a Nespresso machine on the other. The area can also function as a standing desk for your laptop.
.
The separate toilet chamber has a Toto Washlet, while the rest of the bathroom is a shower with separate deep ofuro soaking tub. Bath products are Beekind, with lemongrass.
.
The king bed, as expected for Hyatt, was firm. Good for those who like firm beds, but not comfortable if, as we do, you prefer pillowtop mattresses more akin to the Four Seasons.
.
There was decent natural light from the window, although the view wasn't particularly nice.
.
Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo Breakfast Buffet
The Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo's Namiki667 Restaurant serves breakfast from 7-10:30am daily.
.
TravelSort Clients enjoy complimentary daily breakfast for two as a Hyatt Prive benefit, a value of nearly $80 per day since the breakfast buffet is JPY 5500 including tax, per person. The central cold buffet includes cut fresh fruit, salad fixings, smoked salmon, cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, pastries and doughnuts, with juices, milk, and yogurt in the nearby fridge.
.
There's also a hot buffet with miso soup, rice, curry, etc., as well as omelets and eggs cooked to order.
.
We were pleased with the selection and quality, especially the fresh fruit and vegetables.
.
We also enjoyed a mug of green tea.
.
Hyatt Prive Benefits for TravelSort Clients
- Room upgrade (confirmed within 24 hours of booking, for non-peak periods)
- Welcome amenity
- Daily full breakfast for two
- Complimentary WiFi
- Early check-in/late check-out subject to availability
Note that guests must stay at least two nights to enjoy the Hyatt Prive benefits. Sadly, not all Hyatt Centric hotels provide a Hyatt Prive hotel credit, and this is one that doesn't.
.
The Verdict
The Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo is in a convenient central location, steps from Ginza restaurants and shopping, and only a few minutes from Tokyo Station. As with many Hyatt Centric hotels, it has a young vibe better suited to twenty and thirty somethings rather than a family, and there's no swimming pool or spa. Our room was comfortable except for the bed, which was too firm. The breakfast buffet was good for a city hotel, with an array of savory, sweet, and fresh fruit options and omelets made to order.
If you've stayed at the Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo recently, what was your experience?
