The Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel Openedin September 15, 2023 at 40 Trinity Place, the first Raffles hotel in North America, although just a 2 minute walk from Copley Square and the Fairmont Copley Plaza, another of Accor's hotels since Accor Acquired Fairmont Hotels several years ago.
While Boston has long had some older luxury hotels, such as the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common and the original Four Seasons Boston, recent years have seen the Back Bay additions of the Mandarin Oriental Boston (~10 minute walk from Raffles Boston) and the Four Seasons Boston at One Dalton (~14 min. walk from Raffles Boston).
The Raffles Boston is a Virtuoso member. TravelSort Clients enjoy these benefits:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Continental breakfast for two daily
- $100 hotel credit for use during the stay
- Complimentary WiFi
- Early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability
The hotel has 147 guest rooms as well as 146 private residences. Hotel guests check in at the Sky Lobby, an airy three-story atrium space on the 17th, 18th and 19th floors, connected via a spiral Grand Staircase. Hanging plants that flank the staircase are inspired by the window box greenery frequently seen when strolling around Back Bay neighborhoods.
.
Raffles Boston guest rooms and suites will be on the 6th-14th floors (since private residences are on the highest floors of the 35-floor tower). Rooms offer one king bed or two queen beds, and 20 of the 147 accommodations will be suites.
.
The Raffles Suite (Presidential Suite) on the 14th floor is 2167 sq. ft. with a king bed in the master bedroom, living room with a fireplace and baby grand piano, dining table with seating for ten, a full kitchen, and powder room.
.
Raffles Boston Dining
The hotel will offer 6 restaurants and bars:
- a signature restaurant across two stories
- a Sky Lobby fine dining restaurant overlooking the Charles River and Back Bay
- Sky Terrace Lounge
- Sky Bar
- Raffles Patisserie
- a hidden speakeasy, reached via secret passageway on the 17th floor
While private residences will have their own dedicated spaces, one space that will be open to both hotel guests and residents will be the Writer's Lounge on the 17th floor. A beloved space in most Raffles hotels worldwide, the room honors renowned writers who have spent time at Raffles properties, such as Ernest Hemingway and W. Somerset Maugham.
.
Raffles Spa
The Raffles Spa and Fitness Center is on the 4th floor, encompassing a 65 foot (20 meter) long pool, oversize jacuzzi, rain showers, lounge areas, floor to ceiling windows, and private as well as couples' spa treatment rooms.
.
The real test for the property, as for so many other Boston hotels, will be the quality of the team and service. Overall, through our stays at most of Boston's top luxury hotels, we haven't been that impressed with the service level, and during COVID-19 times in particular there have been service cutbacks that impact how long guests wait and the quality of service provided.
