This Park Hyatt Milan Review is from our 2019 site inspection stay, following our stay at the Mandarin Oriental Milan. Park Hyatt hotels in Europe tend to be some of the better Park Hyatt hotels worldwide, so we looked forward to our stay, even though the Park Hyatt Milan is over a decade older than the new Mandarin Oriental Milan, having opened in 2003. The last renovation was in 2011, and it's slated to be renovated again in 2020.

Park Hyatt Milan Location and Check-In
The Park Hyatt Milan is located at Via Tommaso Grossi 1, in central Milan. It's adjacent to the beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the oldest still active shopping arcade in Italy, and a short 3 minute walk to the Duomo di Milano, Milan's cathedral.
There was no wait at reception when we checked in around noon, but as our room wasn't yet ready, we worked in the La Cupola lobby lounge for a couple hours.

Park Hyatt Milan King Room
King Rooms are 38 Sq. M. (~410 Sq. Ft.), and our had a partial view of the Galleria, which we enjoyed.

We especially liked the high ceilings–the building was a former 19th century palazzo. That said, the window across from the bed meant that the flat screen TV had to be somewhat awkwardly positioned over the work desk.

The bed itself was fine, except that it was too firm for me to sleep comfortably, as is typical for Park Hyatt mattresses. An extra mattress pad helped, but it's a far cry from a Four Seasons bed.

The bathroom had a window, giving it welcome natural light, although there was just one sink. Thanks to the high ceilings, the glass enclosed rain shower was one of the tallest I've seen in a regular room–great for basketball players and other very tall guests. There was also a separate soaking tub. Bath products were by Laura Tonatto.

The Verdict
The Park Hyatt Milan is one of the older Milan luxury hotels, but has been maintained quite well. It's in a great central location, near the Duomo and right by the elegant Galleria, yet is very peaceful inside. As always, I wish Park Hyatt beds were more comfortable, although an extra mattress pad can help somewhat. Service was excellent, and a highlight was the complimentary kids' menu–it's rare to find such a family and child-friendly dining proposition for kids up to age 10. We enjoyed our meals at La Cupola, from the very nice breakfast (although not as lavish or as good as the Mandarin Oriental Milan) to the very good risotto with prawns and lime at dinner.
Note that the Spa has a jacuzzi and offers massages, facials, and other beauty treatments, but there's no swimming pool.
