Japan Airlines' Seattle to Tokyo Narita Nonstop Flight Will Launch March 31, 2019, per the JAL press release, adding a third competitor to the existing Delta and ANA nonstop flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita. Flights will open for sale on November 5, 2018, which is why you can't yet see availability on the JAL Web site or Google Flights.
Here are the schedules for these new JAL Seattle flights:
- JL068 departs Tokyo NRT 6pm, arrives Seattle SEA 11am
- JL067 departs Seattle 2:20pm, arrives Tokyo 4:30pm the next day
These are daily frequencies, and the route will be operated by a Boeing 787-8, which offers the JAL Sky Suite in Business Class. JAL Sky Suite Business Class is my favorite airline business class if you obtain a window seat, as you have more privacy than any other business class, 3 windows, and a comfortable bed. Each business class Sky Suite is supplied with an airweave mattress, which makes the bed much more comfortable (a thicker version of it is used in JAL First Class).
JAL Sky Suite Business Class from the U.S. to Japan is 60,000 American AAdvantage miles or 60,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles one way. Alaska allows a stopover at a partner airline's hub, so if you find award availability, you could book JAL Business Class from the U.S. to Tokyo, enjoy a stopover, then continue on to Hong Kong, for just 65,000 Mileage Plan miles one way.
