A 75K Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX bonus offer is available, for $3000 minimum spend, so I've updated our Best Travel Credit Cards page and made it 4th on that list. Recently I wrote about the semi-targeted 75K AMEX Business Platinum AMEX offer, including one available to some users of LinkedIn, but that offer generally has a $15,000 minimum spend. For many businesses that's not hard to meet, but if you have a small business or no business, the 75K Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX offer is a good deal, with it's much lower minimum spend.
75K Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX Offer Details
- 75,000 Membership Rewards points after $3000 spend within the first 3 months (Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX offer; the targeted 75K AMEX Business Platinum usually requires $15K minimum spend)
- Points may be transfered to Aeroplan, ANA, British Airways, Delta, Singapore and others; there are sometimes transfer bonuses for transfer partners such as British Airways
- $200 airline fee credit (some have managed to get this twice, because it's in a calendar year)
- 5X points per $1 on eligible Mercedes-Benz purchases, 1 point per $1 on all other purchases
- $475 annual fee is NOT waived the first year

Am I Eligible for the 75K Signup Bonus If I've Had the AMEX Platinum Card (Not the Mercedes-Benz Version)?
Unfortunately, no–while there used to be a time when AMEX considered the AMEX Platinum and Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX to be different products such that it was possible to earn the signup bonus for both cards, that time has passed. The terms state “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product” as well as “This offer is not valid for existing Platinum Card Members from American Express” and unfortunately AMEX signup bonuses are now once in a lifetime.
Does the Mercedes-Benz Platinum AMEX Also Come with the $200 Airline Incidental Fee Credit and Global Entry Credit?
Yes, it comes with both benefits, in addition to the $100 certificate towards Mercedes-Benz accessories (not parts or service, not valid on the Mercedes-Benz Web site) and $1000 certificate towards the purchase or lease downpayment of a new Mercedes-Benz (certain exclusions apply).

What Are the Best Ways to Use AMEX Membership Rewards Points?
A favorite use is transferring AMEX Membership Rewards points to Singapore miles in order to book Singapore Suites on the A380, Singapore First Class and Singapore Business Class, although sometimes I transfer Award Booking clients' points to Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and Delta SkyMiles for awards. I don't recommend transferring to British Airways Avios, since this is no longer a 1:1 transfer; use Chase Ultimate Rewards points instead.
