The 50K Chase Ink Business Unlimited Card Offer is now available and added to our Travel Credit Cards page, but is it worth it if you're considering other Chase Ink or business credit card options? First, here are the bonus offer details:
- 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points (if you also have an Ultimate Rewards-linked card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred) after you spend $3000 in 3 months from account opening
- 1.5X points per dollar on all purchases
- No annual fee
Analysis
The Ink Business Unlimited is basically the business version of the Chase Freedom Unlimited, which also earns 1.5% cash back on all purchases, or 1.5X Ultimate Rewards points if you have an Ultimate Rewards-linked cards. But there are a couple key advantages if you're under Chase 5/24 and could apply for either:
- 50,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points (or $500 cash back) with the Ink Unlimited vs. 15,000 bonus points (or $150 cash back) with the Chase Freedom Unlimited
- The Chase Freedom Unlimited will count against you for purposes of Chase 5/24; the Ink Business Unlimited won't
Ink Business Unlimited or Ink Cash or Ink Business Preferred?
I personally more highly value the Ink Cash, since it's the only currently available credit card that offers a 5X bonus on office supply store purchases. That enables you to purchase Whole Foods or Amazon gift cards to earn 5X on all Whole Foods and Amazon spend, something no other card will give you unless you still have an Ink Plus, which is closed to new applications.
Even if you happen to want both cards, you may want to apply now for the Ink Cash since it's had the 50K bonus offer for awhile, whereas the Ink Business Unlimited just launched.
Then again, if you primarily care about the bonus and won't have an issue meeting $5000 spend over 3 months, you may want to go ahead and apply for the 80K Ink Business Preferred, so as to earn another 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points.
Don't Forget the AMEX Blue Business Plus: 2X Points and No Annual Fee
While it only has a 10K signup bonus, the AMEX Blue Business Plus card beats the Ink Business Plus for everyday spend, earning 2X Membership Rewards points per dollar on the first $50,000 of spend excluding gift cards and cash equivalents.
The Verdict
I'm not under 5/24, but even if I was, this wouldn't be the Chase card I'd apply for. I'd instead apply for the 80K Ink Business Preferred for the bonus, or if I didn't already have the old Ink Plus, I'd apply for the 50K Ink Cash card. And if I cared most about maximizing points on everyday spend that otherwise wouldn't earn a category bonus, I'd apply for the AMEX Blue Business Plus.
Do you plan to apply for the new Ink Business Unlimited card?
