Earn 10X Ultimate Rewards Points on Amazon, Whole Foods, Hyatt, Starbucks, Nordstrom and other spend via Amazon and your Chase Freedom card through December 31.
As I wrote in Chase Freedom: 10X on Amazon Spend November 23-December 31, if you have a Chase Freedom and have activated your card for the Q4 Amazon bonus, you're able to earn 10X for an *additional* $1500 spend on Amazon.com November 23-December 31, 2015.
This is great not only for actual purchases on Amazon.com, but also for stocking up on gift cards at your favorite merchants, to be able to earn an effective 10X points with those stores later. Here are my favorite options:
1. 10X on Amazon, Now or Later via Amazon Gift Cards + $15 Off $60 via AMEX Offers
My favorite option, at least if you received the AMEX Offer for $15 Off $60 at Amazon, is buying Amazon gift cards that you can easily load into your Amazon account and are used by default for purchases (including Subscribe & Save items).
2. 10X on Whole Foods
While it's always possible to earn 5X points on Whole Foods spend by buying Whole Foods gift cards at Staples with your Ink Plus, this is a great opportunity to stock up on Whole Foods gift cards from Amazon at 10X, thanks to the Chase Freedom promotion. This, along with Amazon, will be my family's main way to max out $3000 of Amazon spend at 10X, yielding 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points via my card and my husband's Chase Freedom.
3. 10X on Hyatt
We sometimes stay at international Park Hyatt properties–in fact, we just stayed at the Park Hyatt Sydney–but the Hyatt gift cards are only valid at U.S. and Caribbean locations, so we most likely will pass on on buying any Hyatt gift cards. If you do have U.S. or Caribbean Hyatt stays, however, this could be a good bet. Don't forget that if you're staying at a Park Hyatt property that is also a Virtuoso member, your best bet is to book with TravelSort or another Virtuoso advisor, as you'll receive all of your Hyatt Diamond or Hyatt Platinum benefits, as well as Virtuoso benefits, and can pay with your Hyatt gift card.
4. 10X on Starbucks
I haven't visited a Starbucks in ages, since there are other coffee places in NYC that I prefer, but for folks who have Starbucks as part of their routine, this is a good chance to stock up and earn 10X on their Starbucks habit.
5. 10X at Nordstrom
While I personally don't shop at Nordstrom, it seems to be a popular choice for those who still buy from department stores.
