10/18/23 Update: The Thompson Palm Springs is now accepting reservations for stays from May 1, 2024.
The Thompson Palm Springs will open in 2024, Thompson Hotels' second hotel in California after the Thompson Hollywood and the 21st Thompson hotel, after the 2022 openings of the Thompson Madrid and Thompson Central Park, NYC and the December 2023 opening of the Thompson Houston. The project was converted from the prior planned Andaz Palm Springs, which was originally approved in 2006 but delayed following the 2008 recession and by other construction delays.
It will be great to have a new option given the paucity of Palm Springs luxury options; La Quinta Resort gets decidedly mixed reviews, and the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage is a good 20-25 minute drive from downtown Palm Springs.
Thompson Palm Springs Location and Amenities
The new hotel will be located at 400 North Palm Canyon Drive, in the heart of Palm Springs' uptown Design District, steps from restaurants, nightlife, and shopping. Some rooms and suites will offer panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains, and select suites will include private pools, with interior design is by Dallas-based B2 Architecture + Design.
Other amenities will include two outdoor pools, gardens, an indoor and outdoor bar and lounges, signature restaurant, a well-appointed spa and fitness concept, and ground-level shops, including HALL Napa Valley, a wine tasting room for WALTA, BACA, and HALL wines.
