One way to potentially save even more is by using an AMEX OPEN linked small business card for the purchase, such as an SPG AMEX Business card, since AMEX OPEN savings offers 5% statement credit for Hyatt purchases. How to Buy
- Go to https://certificates.hyatt.com/
- Select “Buy Hyatt Checks” in the lower right (more on why you should buy Hyatt Checks instead of a Hyatt eGift Card in the FAQ below)
- Decide on the denomination of each Hyatt Check (I recommend $50) and the number of Hyatt Checks, then select “Add to Cart”
- Scroll up to Shopping Cart and click “Checkout” button
- Select shipping method, fill in your details and enter GPGIFT14 into the promo code field, then click apply. Agree to the Privacy Policy and click Continue
- Complete your credit card details and purchase

What's the Difference Between Hyatt Gift Checks and Hyatt Check Certificates?
The key difference is that Hyatt gift cards are only accepted in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean, whereas Hyatt Gift Checks may be used at all Hyatts worldwide. See Hyatt Gift Cards vs. Hyatt Check Certificates
Which Denomination Should I Select for Hyatt Check Certificates?
I prefer to select small denomination Hyatt gift checks ($50 each) in order to be able to use them even for smaller purchases at any Hyatt, since no change is given. If, however, you have an expensive Hyatt stay coming up (for example at the Park Hyatt Maldives) where you know you'll be plunking down a few thousand, by all means select larger denomination Hyatt checks since it will take less time for the staff to process at check out time.
Do Hyatt Gift Cards and Hyatt Check Certificates Expire?
No, they don't expire.
Do I Earn Hyatt Gold Passport Points When Paying with a Hyatt Gift Card or Hyatt Check?
Yes, as long as it is an eligible stay. For example, corporate rates, conference rates, airline crew and travel professional rates, stays booked via a third party, etc. are not eligible for points, so you wouldn't earn any paying with a Hyatt gift card or Hyatt check. But if the rate itself is eligible, you'll earn points regardless of how you pay.
