Ritz-Carlton Lake Como Announced

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Como has been announced, with an expected 2026 opening date. It will be the first Ritz-Carlton hotel in Italy, among fewer than 10 Ritz-Carlton locations in Western Europe, a surprisingly small footprint.

Ritz-Carlton Lake Como Location

The hotel will be a complete renovation of the former Hotel Grande Bretagne in Bellagio, on the shores of Lake Como, a little over an hour's drive from central Milan and a 1 hour 20 minute-2 hour drive from Milan Airport (MXP), depending on traffic. It will be about a 40-45 minute drive from the Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como and a 25 minute drive from the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, our clients' current favorite hotels in the area. The original Hotel Grande Bretagne was one of Lake Como’s first luxury hotels when it opened in 1850, so it's wonderful that it's being revived after so many years of falling into disrepair.

Ritz-Carlton Lake Como Rooms and Amenities

The new resort, set on a nearly 18,000 sq ft (16,600 sq. m.) estate, will comprise 59 guest rooms and 46 suites, including two magnificent Ritz-Carlton suites featuring lake views. As with the Mandarin Oriental, there will be extensive landscaping and green spaces, including a meditation garden and historic walking trail. Guests will have access to a large outdoor swimming pool and private boat dock, as well as extensive spa facilities, including an indoor pool, fitness center, and treatment rooms.
