The Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin, opened in 2019, is the only Hyatt hotel in Ireland and one of only a handful of Hyatt Centric hotels in Europe.

Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin Location and Check-In

The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from Dublin Airport (DUB). Alternatively, take the Dublin Express bus to Dublin Portobello Kevin Street, about a 3 minute walk from the hotel.

Lobby seating is one of the best parts of the hotel (at least relative to the dark room I was given), due to the good natural light.

There's additional seating just outside the Liberties Gate Bar, which was quite lively in the evening, with some live music.

Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin King Room

Since I was only staying one night, I reserved my room with points, not Hyatt Prive. As a result, my room wasn't one I'd recommend. While the 279 sq. ft. was perfectly fine, especially for one person, the room was depressingly dark, with a small window, and no place to put my suitcase except for the floor (inadequate closet space, and no luggage rack).

Something to note is that King Rooms, while billed on the hotel's Web site as having a “city view” don't necessarily have one. My room looked out at other rooms and a small, quite ugly internal courtyard, not at the city. The window was also quite dirty, visible in the photo below.

As usual for Hyatt, the bed was too firm to be comfortable, but that was to be expected–it's not the Four Seasons.

There's a small but adequate work desk, and there was complimentary boxed water. In case you're looking for the hair dryer, it's inexplicably in one of the desk cubbies.

There's a Nespresso Vertuo machine along with Ristretto, Intenso, and Decaf espresso pods. There's also a hot water kettle for the provided Java Republic tea bags, and shelf stable whole milk.

The bathroom has a single sink, toilet, and a good sized shower, although only with a regular shower head, not a rain shower.

Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the Liberties Gate Restaurant between 7-10:30am on weekdays, and 7-11am on weekends.

At first I thought there was a breakfast buffet, but it turned out that it was only for the tour group; regular guests have table service. Here's the breakfast menu:

I asked what the smoothie of the day was, and was told “strawberry, banana, soy milk.” I asked for it without the soy milk, but it had already been pre-made. Similarly, I asked if the fruit salad could be given to me without any melon, but that had already been pre-made as well. None of the fruit juices were fresh squeezed (I know, Hyatt Centric, not Park Hyatt, but worth checking). I finally ordered some grapefruit juice and the granola pot with natural yogurt, and my kind server volunteered to bring them with a few berries, which I appreciated.

From the hot dishes, I chose the smoked salmon and eggs, which was good, although probably not enough for anyone really hungry.

The Verdict

The Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin is a perfectly fine if forgettable 3.5 star hotel that is well-located within walking distance of many of the city's sights. Its location and number of rooms lends itself well to tour groups, of which there were several visible during my stay. My standard King room was quiet but dark and without a view, with a small window facing other rooms. Some breakfast items (smoothie, fruit salad) are pre-made, which I don't care for. But for a quick stop with little time spent in the room, it serves its purpose.
