Select Marriott resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean are offering free coronavirus tests and extended stay discounts to appeal to U.S. travelers. While not as generous as the Rosewood Baha Mar, Bahamas offer of complimentary private jet travel back to the U.S. or free quarantine stay, the Marriott offer could help sway some travelers who would otherwise stay at another Mexico resort. Here are the offer terms:
- Available to U.S. guests only
- Stay must be 3 consecutive nights or longer
- Free COVID-19 antigen testing is for up to two guests per room per stay
- If the guest is unable to travel back to the U.S. due to a test-related reason, discounted extended stay rates are available, at up to 50% off the flexible rate

Even with the extended stay discount, we recommend 1) Verifying with the individual resort the expected cost per night for an extended stay, since the Marriott Travel with Peace of Mind terms indicate it's *up to* 50% off the flexible stay rate, so it could be more; and 2) Purchasing travel insurance, particularly emergency medical insurance and air ambulance, for example via MedJet, which covers Mexico.
