This Luxury Resort is New, But Already Has a Timeless Feel to it. The resort felt like a well-kept secret; our driver drove past the entrance, and had to turn around to find it. Once inside the airy reception, our eye was drawn to the outside patio, bathed in sun, and with a view over a pond and fountains.
.
A friendly team member drove us in a golf buggy to our room, but in truth we could have walked there in a couple minutes; with just 67 rooms and a handful of suites, the resort is very walkable.
In our room we found an artistic and scrumptious welcome amenity: bottled water and macarons and sweets arranged on a tree, with a card hand signed by the General Manager.
.
We enjoyed an unobstructed view of nearby vineyards from our private balcony:
.
We also visited a couple of suites and a private residence, perfect for families or groups of friends getting away for an extended weekend or longer.
.
The top suite has its own private pool:
.
So far the resort has seen primarily couples and small groups of friends, but the resort would also be the perfect retreat for families. Couples needn't worry: the resort has two pools, one for families, and an adults only lap pool with a jacuzzi near it.
.
The resort's spa offers an outdoor spa garden with a jacuzzi whirlpool and loungers, as well as separate men's and women's relaxation misting decks, plus several treatment rooms and indoor spa lounges.
.
There's also a complimentary kids' club, which is bound to be popular with families when parents want to do some wine tasting. Because not many kids come to Napa and there aren't always kids on property, families should plan to reserve the kids' club at least 48 hours in advance. It's for kids ages 5-12, although the focus is on the younger set. The toys, including fire trucks, pint-size kitchen, shopping cart, and “food” are cute.
.
The resort even has its own mascot: this plush bunny will welcome little ones to the resort.
.
Guests won't have to go far for wine tasting: a winery helmed by a world-class winemaker is right on property. The wines we tasted, particularly a Bordeaux Blend, were incredible. Even a barrel tasting of a wine just two weeks old blew us away.
Wine this good demands superb cuisine, and the culinary team delivers. Stellar ingredients are masterfully prepared, from caviar with green onion dip and house made potato chips to citrus beet salad with tarragon vinaigrette and meltingly tender Wagyu New York Strip.
.
For casual Mexican fare, head pool-side to enjoy freshly prepared tacos:
.
This would also be an incredible resort to host a wedding or special occasion at, with cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres under a starry sky, followed by dinner in a gorgeously decked out barn, complete with chandeliers, fresh roses, and candles.
