Collina Restaurant opened in 2023 in San Francisco's Nob Hill. With an Italian name meaning “little hill,” its location at 1550 Hyde Street, Seven Hills' original location before it moved to Russian Hill back in 2019 makes the cozy spot a fitting sister restaurant and homecoming of sorts for the Seven Hills Team.

Collina Menu and Food
Collina has a quite small kitchen, so the menu is abbreviated, although supplemented by nightly specials. Keep in mind that, as in Italy, pastas are first courses and as such, are on the smaller side.
.
We started off with marinated plump green olives and a couple orders of rosemary focaccia, which arrived warm, with extra virgin olive oil for dipping. While tasty in its own right, we recommend saving some to mop up the delectable sauces.
.
The Raviolo Al Uovo, or giant raviolo with egg, doesn't photograph particularly well. But its nondescript appearance is belied by its wonderfully creamy center of egg, ricotta, and swiss chard, surrounded by the toasty brown butter sauce. Highly recommended.
.
This black truffle pasta, one of the night's specials, was also excellent. We dined with family, so split it five ways, but this is one of the heartier pasta dishes and would be sufficient for a moderately hungry diner, if supplemented with an appetizer or vegetable.
.
For our other pasta, we tried the lasagnette, with its layers of homemade bolognese atop a spinach-cheese fonduta, topped with greens. This is the perfect comfort food dish for less adventurous eaters, although everyone will probably be sneaking bites.
.
The Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops were excellent, and my favorite main course thanks to the pretty plating and pleasing contrast in tastes and textures: perfectly seared scallops, sweet honeynut squash puree, piquant apple relish, and crispy fried brussels sprouts.
.
We also ordered additional sides of fried brussels sprouts, sprinkled with lemon and showered with parmesan. They were so good that we neglected to take a photo until we were nearly finished with them.
.
Our carnivorous teen especially enjoyed the Pork Saltimbocca, a hearty and satisfying marriage of roast pork, 24 month prosciutto, creamy polenta, charred broccolini, lemon sage butter, and fresh greens.
.
The Verdict
We enjoyed Collina if anything, even more than Seven Hills. Service was friendly and professional, the short menu still offered ample choices, and all of the dishes we ordered were delicious and ones we'd order again. Particular standouts were the Raviolo Al Uovo, Black Truffle Pasta, and Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops.
