Chase Sapphire Lounge JFK Review

Chase Sapphire Lounge JFK Review

.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club with Etihad Airways at New York JFK Airport Terminal 4 opened in early 2024, reopening the Etihad Airways Lounge that had been closed during the pandemic. Given its Terminal 4 location, it's most convenient for travelers flying China Airlines, Copa, Delta, El Al, Emirates, Etihad, KLM, LATAM, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, WestJet, and a handful of other airlines.

Chase Sapphire Lounge JFK Location, Hours, and Access

The lounge is located after Terminal 4 security on the mezzanine level (accessed by elevator), near Gate A2, next to the AMEX Centurion Lounge. The lounge is open daily from 5am to 11pm, with breakfast served until around 10:30am, and lunch from 11am.

Access is complimentary for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardmembers (not employee cards) and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers, who are also permitted to bring up to two guests with them complimentary; additional guests are $27 per person. While this is also a Priority Pass lounge, there's restricted access for non-Chase Priority Pass members between 10:30am-2pm daily, with Chase card holders prioritized for access.

We'd heard that there are often long wait times to get into the Chase Sapphire Lounge, such that it often isn't worth it to transfer terminals just to go to the lounge. But mid-morning on a Sunday, with our Chase Sapphire Reserve, we didn't have to wait at all.

Chase Sapphire Lounge JFK Amenities and Food

The lounge, including the bar, overlooks the tarmac, and during our visit there was a view of a Singapore Airlines aircraft.

There are several different seating areas; we opted for some comfortable chairs near the club entrance, by the flight monitor.

Tables have QR codes that can be scanned, although it's not possible to reserve shower rooms online; guests are directed to see the Concierge at the lounge entrance.

Since we arrived around 10:30am, there were still some breakfast dishes on the buffet, such as scrambled eggs, potatoes, and a mango chia pudding.

We spied a few guests with waffles topped with strawberries, but these were already gone from the buffet. A couple croissants and some muffins remained.

Soon, the buffet was replenished with lunch items, such as roast chicken and quinoa with corn:

I enjoyed my early lunch, especially the salad with salmon, roasted cauliflower which I added a dollop of ricotta to.

I also perused the made-to-order menu items:

I ordered the Saffron Shrimp Risotto, which came in about 15 minutes. I ate the shrimp and tomatoes, but the risotto itself was mediocre, a bit gluey.

Desserts included brownie bites, lemon bar, and baklava. I've never seen baklava in a U.S. airport lounge, so bonus points for the novelty, although it wasn't at all memorable. My husband tried the lemon bar, and said it was better than expected for an airport lounge.

I enjoyed the blueberry-lime infused water, which was to the left of the orange juice. There were some whole oranges and apples between the juice/water and coffee machine.

Cold drinks in the chilled case include sodas, apple juice boxes, and sparkling waters.

The Verdict

While the Sapphire Reserve Lounge at JFK is smaller than the Sapphire Reserve Lounge in Boston, we enjoyed it more, as it was also significantly less crowded than the Boston Lounge, where we've sometimes struggled to find seating. We particularly enjoyed the salads (watermelon feta salad, salad with salmon), roasted cauliflower, and mango chia pudding, while the made-to-order saffron shrimp risotto was mediocre.
