Best San Francisco Airport Hotels

We have a couple upcoming layovers in San Francisco soon, with early morning flights out of SFO, so I started hunting around for the best San Francisco airport hotel since I didn't want to have a commute at 5:30am down from San Francisco, especially with sleepy munchkin in tow. I first checked Ben's prior post on The Best Airport Hotels, but he didn't include SFO among his airport hotel picks. So here we go with my picks fo far for SFO airport hotels:

4 Stars and Less Than $150: Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport

Pros:

• Complimentary airport shuttle comes every 10-15 minutes and ride is only 5-10 minutes
• Comfortable Hyatt Grand beds
• Flat screen TV
• Outdoor swimming pool

Cons:

• Some rooms facing Highway 101 are noisy; request an atrium facing room
• WiFi is $10 per 24 hours per device

3 Stars and Less Than $100: Best Western Plus El Ranch Inn & Suites

Pros:

• Complimentary airport shuttle (~20 min. ride)
• Good park and fly program (14 days included, $5 per additional day)
• Shuttle driver helps you with your luggage
• Free WiFi
• 32″ Flat screen TV
• Outdoor pool

Cons:

• Wait for airport shuttle sometimes 30-40 min.
• Train noise audible in rooms near the Caltrain tracks
• Rooms somewhat dated

2 Stars and Less Than $75: Red Roof Inn San Francisco Airport

Pros:

• Complimentary airport shuttle runs 24 hours a day, SFO is 3 miles away
• Friendly staff
• Outdoor swimming pool
• Free parking
• 24 hour restaurant

Cons:

• Shuttle service erratic; not uncommon to wait 30-40 minutes
• Takes ~20 minutes to SFO as shuttle is shared with another hotel
• Rooms somewhat tired (will be remodeled soon, per management)
