This Chic Luxury Beach Resort is just a few hours via nonstop flight from NYC, but enjoys a warm, tropical climate popular with Americans and Canadians tired of the cold and longing for sun and white sand beaches.

Conveniently, the resort is only a 15 min. drive from the airport, and since we hadn't checked any bags, we were at the resort 30 minutes after deplaning. We were welcomed with a choice of pink champagne or juice; my husband had champagne while I rehydrated with the juice.

While regular check-in time is 4pm, we were pleasantly surprised to be told on arrival, around 1:30pm, that our room was already ready. The resort opened just 3 years ago, so everything is still very fresh looking. We had a room with two queen beds, which we'd asked to be made up with an extra mattress pad to make them softer, and with this request, the beds were some of the most comfortable we've experienced.

The bathroom has double sinks, a separate toilet chamber, and a wet area with a shower and the soaking tub. There's a window by the tub that provides natural light:

The hotel has a lovely wine hour from 5-6pm, with complimentary wine offered just off the lobby:

There are several dining options at the hotel; we opted to make a dinner of Spanish tapas, including this dish of tasty beef cheeks, with a delicious Malbec.

The breakfast buffet the next morning included a nice spread of smoked salmon, salads, fresh fruit (including fresh blueberries and blackberries), hot dishes, pastries, and made to order egg dishes. We were especially fond of the omelet paired with hot sauce–which wasn't toned down as it sometimes is at international hotels–this was the real deal.

It surprised me that there was anyone in the hotel pool, since you have a gorgeous white sand beach with loungers and clear turquoise water right in front of the hotel. While we're not lie-on-the-beach people, we certainly enjoyed snorkeling in the clear water on a boat trip during our stay.
