Crowne Plaza Changi Singapore Airport Location, Lobby and Check-In

The Crowne Plaza Changi Singapore Airport is located next to Terminal 3, so if arriving at Singapore Airport, you can simply take the airport Skytrain to it from Terminal and Terminal 2, and is directly connected to Terminal 3.

We arrived at Terminal 1, so after clearing passport control, we proceeded to the Skytrain and were at the Crowne Plaza Changi Singapore Airport in just a few minutes.

Descending the escalator, we came to the lobby, which looked quite sleek for an airport hotel (this is Singapore, after all) and there was no wait at reception, where we were efficiently checked in. We were grateful for the efficiency, since it was evening and my husband had a very early morning flight out, since he was departing back to the U.S. a couple days ahead of us.

Crowne Plaza Changi Singapore Airport Executive Club Level Room

As it wasn't much more expensive, I booked us an Executive Club Level Room, as it included breakfast (it also offers complimentary cocktails and evening snacks, but we arrived too late to avail ourselves of that). We took the elevator up to our floor, and exited into the hallway, which is outdoors. Here it is the next day, when the striking design was more visible. It's probably a more sustainable design, as you don't have to air-condition as much space, although it must be pretty annoying to those wearing glasses to have them fog up with the temperature changes.

Our room was more stylish than the typical Crowne Plaza hotel, let alone airport hotel. While fairly compact, it had everything we needed. The beds were somewhat firmer than we prefer, but we were so tired we slept decently anyway.

The desk featured a welcome fruit plate, which came in handy since, as usual, the munchkin was hungry and wanted something before going to bed. There was free WiFi since we were in an Executive Club Room, but standard Internet is also free for all IHG Rewards Club members.

The bathroom had a transparent floral design divider between it and the room, but fortunately there was also a pull down privacy screen. In my view, any bathroom that doesn't have a regular wall between it and the bedroom should also have a privacy screen, not least because if someone gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you don't want the light to wake up others in the room.

Bath amenities were by The White Company, and not objectionable, but nothing worth saving either.

There was a tea kettle in the room to make tea and instant coffee. Hot drinks weren't a priority for me in hot and humid Singapore, but always good to have the option, especially if you're in a regular room without Executive Club access and need some hot caffeinated drinks to power through some work.

My husband had already departed on his flight when the munchkin and I woke up the next morning, and with just some fruit for dinner, we were ravenous. The Executive Club Lounge is located on the third floor, so we took the elevator down and entered, where we were greeted and asked our room number. There's some interesting crescent shaped seating in the corner of the lounge:

We took seats near the window, which overlooks the swimming pool:

The Executive Club Lounge breakfast buffet was good for an airport hotel, especially compared to U.S. airport hotels. Obviously it has nothing on the breakfast buffet at The Four Seasons Singapore or the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, but it was a step up from what I was expecting for a Crowne Plaza airport hotel.

There was smoked salmon, salad, breads and pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, fresh fruit, cheese plate, cereal, and good quality Emmi Swiss yogurt.

The Verdict

If you have an evening layover in Singapore, as we did, or an early morning flight out of Singapore, the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel in Singapore is a convenient choice and much higher quality than most airport hotels. I definitely preferred it to the lackluster Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel and it's one of the few Crowne Plaza hotels I've enjoyed staying in.

If you've stayed at The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel in Singapore, what was your experience?
