Welcome to Winter Storm Jonas, NYC. I think the NY Times opinion writer David Dudley has it right, in his piece today “In Case of Blizzard, Do Nothing,” with choice quotes such as these:
“Gloriously, if briefly, [the snow] hides everything else — the plastic grocery bags and mini-marts and dog poop and salt-grimed Toyotas…Name another disaster that leaves the afflicted region more attractive in its wake”
“A snowstorm rewards indolence and punishes the go-getters, which is only one of the many reasons it’s the best natural disaster there is”
So we indeed hunkered down most of the day, apart from my one foray out to Whole Foods to get a few groceries for dinner, at 10X of course (thank you Chase Freedom 10X on Amazon, Whole Foods, etc. from a few weeks ago).
Oh, and a snowball fight. A neighbor's kids had already made a snowman of sorts, but it was a snowball fight our son was really gunning for, and we obliged.
The snow, while powdery, ended up packing pretty well and there certainly was plenty of it. NYC is slated to receive 30 inches or so from Winter Storm Jonas.
Stay warm and safe everyone! What's the weather like where you are?
