The Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique opens May 1, 2025 as the second Waldorf Astoria in Central America, after the Waldorf Astoria Panama. It's another new luxury entrant in Costa Rica, along with Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which is in its soft opening, with availability from 2/25/25.

The resort is located a 35-40 min. drive from Liberia Airport (LIR), which offers nonstop flights from Atlanta ATL, Charlotte CLT, Dallas DFW, Denver DEN, Houston IAH, Los Angeles LAX, Miami MIA, New York JFK, Toronto YYZ, and seasonal flights from Boston BOS, Chicago ORD, Newark EWR, San Francisco SFO, and Seattle SEA, among others. The resort's peninsula location on Playa Penca isn't that far as the crow flies (across the water) from the Four Seasons Costa Rica, but by car it's ~1 hour drive.

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique Rooms, Suites, and Amenities
The new resort offers 188 accommodations, including 40 suites. Rooms start with the entry level Ocean View King, with corner rooms with larger balconies and rooms with two queen beds also available; some rooms and suites also offer a private plunge pool on the balcony.
For families or friends traveling together, there will also be private villas of two, three, or four bedrooms with their own private swimming pool.

In addition to the beach of Playa Penca, with swimming, paddleboarding and boating on offer, guests can enjoy multiple tiered swimming pools.

There's also a 24-7 fitness center with movement studio and outdoor yoga area and meditation classes. There are also kids' and teens' clubs, a boon for families.

Restaurants include Tico Tica for all-day dining; Vida for poolside drinks and snacks; Pura for healthy light bites, smoothies and energy drinks; Copo y Cono for coffee drinks and ice cream; Buena Nota Cafe for specialty coffee and pastries; and Peacock Alley for signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

La Finca is the resort's signature restaurant, showcasing seasonal local cuisine with a view.
