Review: Weft & Warp, Andaz Scottsdale

Review: Weft and Warp, Andaz Scottsdale

.

This Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen Scottsdale review is from our recent stay at the Andaz Scottsdale, which we'll be reviewing separately.

Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen Location and Hours

The Andaz Scottsdale is located at 6114 North Scottsdale Road, and Weft & Warp is the resort's only full service restaurant, located next to the main lobby. It serves daily breakfast (complimentary for TravelSort Clients reserving a Hyatt Privé rate) from 7am-1:30pm and dinner 5-10pm. We made our reservation with Open Table.

Weft & Warp Menus and Food

We went for an early dinner, around 5:45pm, so we were able to order a couple items from the Happy Hour menu, which is available 5-6pm:

Here's the regular dinner menu:

There's no complimentary bread basket, but the Shrimp Curry appetizer, normally $24 but on the Happy Hour menu for $18 (which unfortunately came with just four shrimp, in an overly salty sauce) did come with some toast. This dish definitely wasn't worth it and I wouldn't order it again.

On a more positive note, the Patatas Bravas, normally $12 but on the Happy Hour menu for $8, was very tasty, with crispy potatoes cooked in duck fat, topped with salsa and on a bed of saffron aioli, and reasonably priced.

My teen really enjoyed his rigatoni with vodka tomato sauce, bacon and burrata, and I thought it was solid, but definitely not worth $37 before tax/tip.

The cauliflower side dish, with zhoug, raisins, and marcona almonds was a generous serving for $12, and would have been perfect had the cauliflower been roasted longer and more tender.

We looked at the dessert menu but didn't find anything appealing; I would have liked to see something less fussy, done really well, such as a superb apple cobbler, or, given the Italian and Middle Eastern influences, perhaps a fragrant citrus olive oil semolina cake with shavings of dark chocolate, served with ricotta and Amarena cherries.

The Verdict

Our dinner at Weft & Warp at the Andaz Scottsdale was a mixed experience. Service from the host and our server was friendly and professional, so we have no complaints there. The food had some highs and lows, with the best overall value the Patatas Bravas with Happy Hour pricing and the cauliflower, but a very poor shrimp appetizer and a solid pasta main that was overpriced. Our server didn't know how to process our OpenTable check, and once she did so it somehow only reflected on the internal system and not on the printed check, so I had to manually cross out the amount on the check and write in the correct amount before signing.
