Turks & Caicos Reopens July 22, 2020

Turks & Caicos Will Reopen Its Borders to International Visitors on July 22, 2020, about 4 months after the country closed to international visitors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Turks & Caicos saw only 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1 death, and launched a phased reopening starting May 4 for local residents. Beaches and individual watersports for fitness and recreation were the first to be permitted, with strict social distancing, followed by key government departments, grocery stores, and restaurants, for take-out services only.

Turks & Caicos has yet to announce the exact requirements and health protocols for international visitors, but will do so in the coming weeks. It's expected to entail visitors having been tested negative for COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to Turks & Caicos, similar to St. Lucia, which will reopen June 4, 2020. This could be an obstacle in many areas of the U.S., where it remains challenging to get tested if asymptomatic, due to the shortage of tests.
