The Chase Freedom 5X Calendar for Q4 2019 has been released, and the categories are PayPal, Chase Pay, and Department Stores. I can't say I'm too excited by these categories, none of which we normally spend on. I liked it much better when Apple Pay allowed person to person transfers and was a 5X category, as it was easier to front load spend to people we normally pay cash to. Chase Pay, however, is only for merchants, not for person to person payments.
It's a pity that Chase Freedom 5X for airlines and hotels in Q4 2012 never returned–that was by far my favorite Chase Freedom Q4 category.
Today, September 14, 2019, is also the last day to activate Chase Freedom cards for 5X on Gas Stations and Select Streaming Services, with September 30, 2019 the last day to earn 5X for spending on those categories. Frankly though, we haven't bothered activating any of our 4 Chase Freedom cards for those categories, which we don't spend on.
Note that in order to transfer Chase Freedom points out to Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners, you do need a Chase credit card linked to Chase Ultimate Rewards, for example the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus or Ink Business Preferred card.
