Four Seasons Private Jet Itineraries are already sold out for 2018, but the Latin Escape in February 2019 caught my eye as it includes a Galapagos cruise. How? Four Seasons has exclusively chartered Silverseas Cruises Silver Galapagos ship for 4 nights, enabling Four Seasons Private Jet guests to visit Floreana Island, home to sea turtles, sea lions, and colorful bluefooted boobies, and also Santa Cruz Island, with its stunning flamingos, and the Charles Darwin Research Center and Fausto Llerena Tortoise Center, focused on conservation of the Galápagos giant tortoises.
Since most Galapagos cruises are at least 7 nights, for those who want a taste of these unique islands but don't want to commit to a full week, and also want to explore other destinations in South America, this could be a great itinerary. For a pre-trip stay in South Beach, I'd recommend the Four Seasons at the Surf Club, which opened just over a year ago in 2017 and enjoys beautiful ocean views, Le Sireneuse restaurant, and an excellent spa.
Four Seasons Miami February 9-10, 2019
Gather for dinner on February 9 with your fellow travelers and your journey’s dedicated support team at The Villa Casa Casuarina, a grand baroque villa in Miami Beach best known as the lavish home of the late fashion designer Gianni Versace. On February 10, board the private jet for the flight to Costa Rica.
Four Seasons Costa Rica February 10-13
The Four Seasons Costa Rica recently reopened in December after an extensive renovation, so you'll be staying in renewed guest rooms. The hillside resort is in the heart of Costa Rica’s Papagayo Peninsula, where golden beaches meet tropical jungles. Adventure lovers will want to zip-line through the forest canopy, taking in panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean while soaring above the trees and keeping an eye out for howler monkeys.
Alternatively, spend the day exploring the Arenal Volcano National Park, where you can hike through lava flows and dense green jungle. Relax in the thermal pools of the Rio Perdido Hot Springs, set in a 500-acre reserve, before enjoying a five-course lunch from the organic farm on site. While in one of the world’s great surfing destinations, opt to catch a wave with an expert surfing instructor.
Golfers can play a round on the Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf course, and for tennis players, there are also both clay-like and grass courts, with private lessons and clinics available.
Don't miss the “Taste the Stars” dinner, marrying astronomy and gastronomy, a multi-course, space-influenced dinner under the stars that showcases a molecular gastronomy tasting menu created in collaboration with astronaut Franklin Chang Diaz.
Four Seasons Buenos Aires February 13-16
The Four Seasons Buenos Aires is in the La Recoleta district, with several suites in an elegant Belle Epoque mansion, and guest rooms in an adjacent tower, with a heated Roman-style outdoor pool.
Long known as the “Paris of South America,” cosmopolitan Buenos Aires boasts European-style architecture and heritage, as well as a lively urban culture. Explore the Recoleta neighbourhood near the hotel, home to leafy parks and high-end shopping. Go backstage at the Teatro Colón for a behind-the-scenes look at one of the best concert venues in the world. Foodies will enjoy spending a day like a true porteño by savoring the delicacies of Buenos Aires on a guided culinary tour.
Outside the city, venture to the countryside to Estancia la Bamba de Areco, one of the oldest ranches in Argentina. Watch gauchos demonstrate their traditional horse-riding skills before enjoying a barbecue lunch on the beautiful grounds of this historic property. Or opt to take a day trip to Iguassu Falls, where 275 interlinking falls tumble into the river below in an impressive display, and take in dramatic views of Devil’s Throat, a horseshoe-shaped section of the falls.
Four Seasons Bogota February 16-19
With everything from colonial-style buildings to the most talked-about restaurants, Bogotá has emerged as the continent’s must-see destination. Our visit begins with a private event at the extraordinary Museo del Oro, home to an aweinspiring variety of pre-Hispanic indigenous gold artifacts. Browse the treasures of the collection with a cocktail in hand, before indulging in a festive dinner in the museum. Visit the city’s beautiful historic centre to explore the Museo Botero, which showcases the work of renowned Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero, as well as other international masters, including Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Step into the vibrant Latin culture of Colombia with a private salsa lesson. Sip on fresh-roasted coffee, one of the country’s most famous exports, and learn to identify its distinct qualities. Let a local expert guide you through the flower and fruit sections of the colourful Paloquemao Market.
Galapagos Islands February 19-23
After the Four Seasons Private Jet lands in Guayaquil, you'll take a local flight to Baltra to embark on the Silver Galápagos, exclusively chartered by Four Seasons and customised for our group. Venture into the remote Galápagos Islands, where centuries of natural isolation have allowed unique plants and animals to develop. Look for sea lion pups on Floreana Island, where a small colony thrives amid the lava rocks along the shore, and seek out sea turtles that nest on its white-sand beaches. For a different perspective, opt to kayak along the coast or snorkel through the clear waters to encounter sea lions, manta rays and colourful fish. You may spot bluefooted boobies—an iconic species of marine bird found only on these islands— diving into the water. On Santa Cruz Island, follow an inland trail, past saltwater lagoons where vibrant flamingos congregate, in search of the land iguanas that inspired Dragon Hill’s name. Visit the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, an opportunity to see the two distinct species of the Galápagos giant tortoise. As we sail between islands, relax with a soothing massage onboard the ship, enjoy the fitness centre, or sip on a cocktail as you take in the views.
Miami 23-24
Your journey through the Americas concludes in Miami. Upon arrival, settle in to your hotel room and relax after your adventure. Recharge with a signature spa treatment in a luxurious poolside cabana, or sip on a Miami-inspired tropical cocktail under the shade of an umbrella. Take a moment to explore your hotel’s extensive art collection, including works by Venezuelan painter Jesus Rafael Soto and Cuban-born photographer Maria Martínez-Cañas. Join us for a festive farewell dinner at the Bahía Restaurant’s outdoor terrace to commemorate your journey in style. As the Florida sun sets, toast to your new friends over an exquisite meal of Latin-inspired flavors reminiscent of our recent voyage. Enjoy a night’s rest before returning home.
