45K AMEX Green Card Bonus Offer

45K AMEX Green Card Bonus Offer

.

The AMEX Green Card Has a 45,000 Signup Bonus, available by applying in Google Chrome Incognito mode. I've never had an AMEX Green card, so I applied with the 45K offer and was instantly approved. The AMEX Green card has taken a page from the Chase Sapphire Reserve, earning 3X per dollar on travel and dining.

Here's the bonus offer, card benefits, and fee:

  • Earn 45,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after spending $2000 on the card in eligible purchases within the first 3 months of card membership starting from the date your account is approved
  • Earn 3X points per dollar on travel, including flights, hotels, transit, taxis and ridesharing services
  • Earn 3X points per dollar on restaurants, worldwide
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • $150 annual fee is NOT waived first year

FAQ

Am I Eligible for the 45,000 Signup Bonus?

Per the terms, the 45,000 bonus is “not available to applicants who have or have had this Card or previous versions of the American Express® Green Card.” AMEX also has language indicating that it may consider the number of American Express cards an applicant has opened or closed, in addition to other factors, when determining eligibility for the signup bonus.

Isn't the AMEX Green Signup Bonus 30,000?

The AMEX Green public signup bonus is 30,000 points, but if you're using Google Chrome and open an Incognito browser, then go to americanexpress.com, scroll down and you should be able to find a 45,000 bonus offer for the AMEX Green card.

If Approved, Can I Obtain the Card Number Instantly?

Yes–at least based on my experience. After being approved, I was offered the ability to get my card number, expiration date and security code instantly, either by verifying the CCV of an existing AMEX card or having a code sent to my phone number.

The Verdict

Is the 45K AMEX Green card worth applying for, if you're eligible for the signup bonus? In my view, yes; it's a bargain to pay $150 for 45,000 Membership Rewards points. Is it worth keeping beyond the first year? Perhaps, if you don't have and can't get the Chase Sapphire Reserve, but if you already have the Sapphire Reserve, probably not. The Sapphire Reserve not only offers 3X per dollar on travel and dining, for the same effective $150 annual fee (the card's fee is $450 per year, but you get $300 of that back as a travel statement credit), the Sapphire Reserve also gives you superior travel insurance protection, along with Global Entry reimbursement every 4 years and Priority Pass Select.
