A 100K Chase Sapphire Preferred Offer with No Annual Fee the first year and $50 grocery statement credit is available in Chase bank branches until July 17, 2021. This is the highest offer we've seen for this card, and for those who, like us, have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, it could be worth product changing in order to apply for the 100K Sapphire Preferred, if eligible. Here are the offer details:
- Earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4000 on the card within the first 3 months of account opening
- Annual fee waived
- $50 grocery statement credit
- The above offer only is available when applying in person at a Chase branch, not for online applications

FAQ
Who is Eligible for the Offer?
If you're under 5/24, haven't earned a Sapphire signup bonus within the past 48 months and don't currently have a Sapphire card of any kind, you're likely to be eligible (although if you just product changed a Sapphire card, you should wait 7-10 days before applying).
You're not eligible for the offer if you:
- Currently have a Sapphire card of any type
- Received a signup bonus for any Sapphire card within the past 48 months
- Have opened 5 or more credit cards (from any bank, not just Chase) within the past 24 months which were reported to the credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, Transunion). Note that most business cards (but not all) are not reported to the bureaus so don't count against you.
.
If Approved, When Will I Earn the 100K Signup Bonus?
Per Chase, the bonus points will be awarded in the same statement cycle that you meet minimum spend; the points will post as two separate bonuses, 80,000 points and 20,000 points (this is because the previous in-branch offer was for 80,000 points, so Chase is adding the additional 20,000 points to match the current online 100K offer).
.
What If I'm Denied?
It's worth calling Chase Reconsideration at 888-270-2127, especially if you suspect you were denied due to holding several other Chase cards with high credit lines. A representative could help you to lower a line of a card you use less, in order to be approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred. Keep in mind that you'll need to qualify for at least a $5000 credit line to open a new Chase credit card account.
.
If Product Changing from a Sapphire Reserve, Which Card Should I Switch To?
If you want to keep your current card number, you'll want to switch to another Visa card, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Freedom. We decided to switch to the Chase Freedom Flex, which is a MasterCard and will have a different card number, but which has the quarterly rotating 5X categories and also earns 3X on dining and drug stores.
.
What Happens to My Existing Ultimate Rewards Points When I Product Change My Sapphire Reserve to a Chase Freedom?
It depends on which other cards you have. Since I have an existing Chase Ink Plus, my points remain Ultimate Rewards points that can be transferred out to travel partners such as United MileagePlus, British Airways Avios, etc. If you product change to a Chase Freedom and don't also have an Ink card for which you pay an annual fee, your points will become Freedom points, which aren't able to be transferred to Ultimate Rewards travel partners, unless/until you're approved for the Sapphire Preferred (or product change back to the Chase Sapphire Reserve, if not approved for the Sapphire Preferred).

This offer has already ended. 100K points offer is still there, but in branch doesn’t waive annual fee and $50 groceries credit.
Sorry that your local branch rep wasn’t able to find it; I just checked with my local branch and the waived annual fee offer is still available. Chase could of course decide to withdraw the offer early, but at least as of Tuesday July 6 it’s still available.
As a datapoint, I applied and was approved in-branch today, July 6th. Both the banker and branch manager assured me that the offer would be honored. Although I am a little annoyed that I literally received no paperwork whatsoever, so I just have their word. Apparently when I checked electronic agreement only, it meant it wouldn’t be printed. I thought it was regarding paperless banking, it wasn’t. But my online account doesn’t show the agreement either. It only shows 80k after 4 months with no mention of annual fee or $50 grocery credit. But I guess I have to learn… Read more »
