New United Nonstop Flights to Hawaii from New York are Available from NYC EWR, Chicago ORD and Orange County SNA. Especially with the U.S. now requiring a negative result from a COVID-19 test for all international arrivals, Hawaii has become a particularly popular destination for our U.S. based clients. Here are the new routes:
NYC EWR – Maui OGG, Starts 6/3/21
Boeing 767-300ER (flat bed seats in United Polaris business class)
- Depart EWR 8:10am, Arrive OGG 1:05pm (UA42)
- Depart OGG 2:40pm, Arrive 6:10am (UA43)
United MileagePlus Business Class awards currently run 95,000 miles each way per person and have only been released through mid-August 2021 apart from a few dates in December.

Chicago ORD – Kona KOA, Starts 6/3/21
Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner (flat bed seats in United Polaris business class)
- Depart ORD 10:15am, Arrive KOA 2:35pm (UA66)
- Depart KOA 5:05pm, Arrive ORD 5:10am (UA67)
As with the EWR-OGG route, United MileagePlus Business Class awards currently run 95,000 miles each way per person and have only been released through mid-August 2021 apart from a few dates in December.

Orange County SNA – Honolulu HNL Starts 5/6/21
Boeing 737-700 (recliner seats in business class)
- Depart SNA 8:30am, Arrive HNL 11:30am (UA411)
- Depart HNL 12:50pm, Arrive SNA 9:10pm (UA410)
United MileagePlus Business Class awards currently run 40,000-54,000 miles per person each way for most dates when awards are available, with a few high demand dates at 70,000 miles or more.
We recommend redeeming United MileagePlus miles for award tickets and using the money saved to reserve the newly renovated Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island, the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, or the Four Seasons Lanai (which can be reached via flight or ferry from Maui without another COVID-19 test if already on Maui, since Lanai is part of Maui County).
United miles are easy to earn with the Chase Sapphire Reserve (3X on all travel and dining, and 3X on groceries through April 2021) and the Chase Ink Cash (5X on all phone/cable/internet bills, and 5X on all Amazon and Whole foods spend, if buying Amazon and Whole Foods gift cards at 5X at office supply stores). Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer 1:1 to United miles, and transfers are typically instantaneous.
