You can earn 7500 Starpoints for each approved SPG AMEX or SPG Business application, up to 55,000 Starpoints per calendar year
Your friend will earn 25,000 bonus Starpoints after spending $3000 on the new SPG AMEX (or $5000 on the new SPG Business AMEX) within the first 3 months.

That said, this is more of a “Refer an Enemy,” at least for the SPG AMEX personal card, since 25,000 is NOT the best offer for this card. I've been able to pull up the following 30K SPG AMEX offer in an incognito browser, with the same minimum spend, which is a better deal. And as recently as early April 2017, there were 35K SPG AMEX and 35K SPG Business card offers.

It's true that I haven't recently managed to pull up a 30K offer for the SPG Business AMEX, so if this is the card you want and you want it now, I certainly appreciate your applying through my link: 25K SPG Business AMEX. But please comment below if you're able to get a 30K SPG Business AMEX (not just the personal SPG AMEX) to appear, as this would be a better offer.

In my view the best way to maximize your Starpoints is by transferring them to a frequent flyer program for an award ticket, such as to Miles & More for a Lufthansa First Class award, to Virgin Atlantic or ANA for ANA First Class, or topping up your preferred frequent flyer program account. SPG Starpoints transfer to most frequent flyer programs 1:1 (but double check that this is the case for your desired program), and if you transfer in increments of 20,000 points you also receive a 25% bonus, so 20K Starpoints become 25K frequent flyer miles.
