This Review of the Club Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Maui is part of a Hawaii trip report including other Maui resorts such as the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea and the Fairmont Kea Lani.
Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Club Lounge Location and Hours
The Club Lounge is located on the 8th floor in the Napili Wing, in the same building relatively close to the lobby. The Spa is on the 4th floor of the same building.
The Club Lounge is open daily from 7am-9pm, and as with other Ritz-Carlton Club Lounges, it serves 5 complimentary food presentations, with the following hours at time of writing:
- Breakfast: 7-10am
- Light Lunch: 12noon-2:30pm
- Afternoon Tea: 3-4pm
- Hors d'Oeuvres and Cocktails: 5-7pm
- Dessert and Cordials: 7:30-9pm
Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Evening Hors d'Oeuvres
Here was the menu for Evening Hors d'Oeuvres:
Of the items on offer, our favorites were the vegetable antipasti, the baked brie, and the cheese platter.
The salmon poke wasn't really poke, it was in some kind of creamy sauce, instead of the traditional soy-based seasoning for poke.
There was also fried chicken, but again, not the best, so we stuck with veggies, cheese and crackers.
Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Desserts
Here's the dessert menu for our visit:
The raspberry cream tarts and the vanilla panna cotta I tried were nothing special.
I didn't try the pineapple cake with coconut or chocolates.
I ended up preferring one of the cookies that are near the entrance/exit to the Club Lounge and are available 24/7.
Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Breakfast
Here's the Club Lounge Breakfast Menu for the buffet:
Highlights for the breakfast were the fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh papaya, and the smoked salmon. The pineapple could have been riper, and I was disappointed with the Yoplait yogurt, which is so cloying in its sweetness, and not organic.

The Verdict
We appreciated the friendly service of the Club Lounge staff, who always greeted us with a smile, helped us with drinks, and were happy to check on ingredients so that we could avoid an allergen. The evening hors d'oeuvres were fine, and we especially enjoyed the vegetable antipasti and the Humboldt Fog cheese on the cheese plate. I would have liked to see some other appetizers that weren't fried or in a rich dressing, but this is, after all, a Club Lounge in Hawaii and not Hong Kong. Similarly, I thought the mini desserts were only ok; I preferred the cookies (which are available 24/7) over the other options.
At breakfast, highlights were the fresh squeezed orange juice (other juices are from concentrate) and smoked salmon. I'd like to see a better quality of yogurt than Yoplait on offer, although being from Hawaii, I understand the high cost of dairy products, since all major dairy brands have to be flown in.
