This private island luxury resort is still a well-kept secret, having only opened in late 2018, and reopened during the pandemic in 2020, with just 26 villas and residences, many of them overwater villas.
.
We were in one of the overwater villas, which accommodates up to 3 adults and 1 child age 11 or younger in over 3000 square feet of space. The spacious living room already held some tasty welcome treats, both savory and sweet.
.
Since I wasn't craving alcohol after my long travel day to get here, there was sparkling tea, and my house master was kind enough to bring a mango smoothie, which I enjoyed even more. There was also a plate of fresh cut fruit in the mini bar, which I was thrilled to see already stocked with my favorite bottled juices in the world, Alain Milliat.
.
As befits an overwater villa, the living room floor included a round glass window for fish viewing; I saw several fish at night, when the living room light attracted them. If there's a third adult and/or child staying with parents, a sofa bed can be made up or extra bed brought into the living room.
.
The separate bedroom has doors separating it from the living room and its own temperature control, as well as automatically controlled blackout drapes for those who prefer to sleep in.
.
The bathroom has a large oval soaking tub in the center, with double sinks, a rain shower, and separate toilet chamber.
.
All three rooms (living area, bedroom, bathroom) have doors that lead out to the deck and infinity pool, which can be set to your preferred temperature.
.
Take in the changing colors of the sky at sunset from the loungers or swing:
.
Traveling as a family or with another couple? Stay in the resort's two bedroom overwater villa, at the end of the pontoon, with both sunrise and sunset views and an even larger infinity pool. There's also a dining area and kitchen to accommodate private dining, and even a massage table for in-villa massages.
.
Every evening, enjoy creative cocktails and canapes by the main pool, while taking in the sunset and listening to live music.
.
No Schedules, Dine at Any Time
One of the truly unique aspects of this private island is that you're not tied to any specific opening hours. Prefer to have breakfast for dinner? Not a problem. Want to have sashimi or Japanese dishes at the Mediterranean restaurant, or Mediterranean dishes at the Japanese restaurant? Certainly. Not over your jet lag and crave a massage in the middle of the night? Absolutely. You can truly disconnect here and pretty much forget about your phone or watch (unless you've pre-arranged diving or another activity for a specific day and time).
It also means that even though it's not a very big island, it never feels busy even when all 26 villas and residences are occupied, as they were during my stay. I'd see a couple other tables of guests when having breakfast, and there was just one other party at the Japanese restaurant when I had dinner. The ambience is very laid back, so for those who love excellent service and amenities without pretension, this is where you want to be.
.
Experiences
A stay here can be as active or relaxing as you choose. For early risers, take advantage of calmer morning conditions to go snorkeling, or if paddling with flippers seems too energetic, take one of the Sea bobs and your mask to view the marine life. Just in one morning I saw schools of tropical fish including triggerfish, parrotfish, butterfly fish angel fish and many others, a shark, moray eel, manta ray, and eagle ray. Divers will be able to see even more. Other water sports are also on offer, from jet skiing to kayaking to fishing, and ocean swimmers will enjoy swimming in the channel by the soft sandy beach, protected from strong currents by a stone barrier.
.
Or for a non-nautical start to the day, enjoy complimentary morning yoga at the spa, which also offers aerial yoga and a full array of massages and spa treatments.
Families with kids will be happy to know that there's a complimentary kids' club, and that kids under 12 stay and dine complimentary when accompanied by parents.
Can you guess this private island?
