Have You Received Your $200 AMEX Platinum Airline Credit for 2019? After purchasing Delta gift cards in $50 denominations earlier this year, three days later the full $200 was reimbursed, and I've been able to use them towards Delta flights. Note that there's a maximum of 3 gift cards that may be applied toward a purchase, so if you've bought 4 gift cards, you may want to split up your Delta ticket purchase so as to be able to apply all your gift cards. For any remaining ticket cost, you can use your Chase Sapphire Reserve, which provides a $300 annual travel credit. You'll also get the benefit of the Chase Sapphire Reserve trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance (which AMEX cards don't have).
For those who have been asking which other airline gift cards also currently work for reimbursement, to my knowledge, only American Airlines gift cards and Southwest gift cards are also reimbursed, for purposes of the AMEX Platinum airline fee credit. Also don't forget to select or change your airline for the AMEX Platinum fee credit before making your purchase; existing cardholders have until the end of January to change their airline selection.
