Sweden Reopens to Fully Vaccinated US Visitors, No COVID Test Required

.

Sweden Has Reopened to Fully Vaccinated U.S. Visitors who present a valid U.S. vaccination certificate. In fact, fully vaccinated Americans don't have to test for COVID-19 before entering, making it easier for vaccinated Americans to enter Sweden than most Caribbean countries. The new policies are effective as of November 5, 2021. Per the Swedish government announcement:

“Sweden enjoys close and good relations with the US, and cooperates on important matters in many areas. Travel between Sweden and the US is therefore of major importance in many different ways. For example, it plays an important role when it comes to companies’ competitiveness and opportunities to conduct their activities. The US intends to allow entry to fully vaccinated travelers from all 26 Schengen countries as of 8 November. It is therefore very important that vaccinated travelers from the US can also travel more easily to Sweden.”

Other countries whose vaccination certificates Sweden also accepts as of 11/5/21 include: Albania, Andorra, Faroe Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Israel, Jersey, Morocco, Monaco, Northern Macedonia, Panama, San Marino, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine.

As previously, there is also no entry ban for visitors from the Nordic countries: Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, and nothing needs to be presented.

Visitors from other (non-Nordic) EEA countries do need to present the EU COVID Certificate documenting full vaccination or negative results from a COVID-19 test taken within the 72 hours prior to arriving at the border, or recovery from COVID-19.

Where to Stay in Stockholm

Sweden, as with the other Scandinavian countries, isn't known for luxury hotels, so choices are quite limited, and the key is to keep expectations low notwithstanding the high rates, particularly in late spring and summer. For a traditional hotel and great central location, we recommend the Grand Hotel Stockholm, where a room or suite with a harbor view is a must. TravelSort Clients enjoy these benefits:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Continental Breakfast for two guests per bedroom in Cadier Bar
  • $100 USD Equivalent Resort/Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

For those who prefer something more homey and off the beaten path, try a stay at Ett Hem (At Home, in Swedish), especially one of the Junior Suites or Suite. TravelSort Clients enjoy:

  • Upgrade at time of arrival, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Daily Full breakfast for two per bedroom
  • $100 USD equivalent Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability

Do you plan to visit Sweden, now that it's reopened to fully vaccinated U.S. visitors?
