Our Review of The Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club, a Fairmont resort in Bermuda has been a bit delayed, as so many things have been during the pandemic. If planning to visit Bermuda, please check the Bermuda COVID-19 entry requirements, as these are subject to change. For example, note that as of time of writing, and ever since 12/24/20, UK arrivals, even with the requisite negative COVID-19 test result, are required to quarantine until they receive a Day 4 negative test result. Also, all arrivals are required to wear a Traveller Wristband for the first 14 days of their stay.

The Hamilton Princess Bermuda Location and Check-in
As its name implies, the resort is located by the town of Hamilton, which is about a 25 minute drive from the Bermuda airport, BDA. The nice thing about Bermuda compared to the Caribbean, at least for NYC and Boston area visitors, is that it's just a 2 hour flight. The more northern latitude, however, also means that the main season for visiting Bermuda isn't winter, but rather spring-fall, April-October timeframe.
The hotel's most recent renovation was in 2016, and this is evident in the soaring lobby, adorned with modern art that includes Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol and others. The main reception and Concierge desk is to the right of the lobby, while straight ahead is Crown & Anchor Restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Hamilton Princess Pools and Beach Club
There are two pools at the Hamilton Princess. The adults only pool is just steps away from Crown & Anchor:
.
The more popular pool is the Infinity Pool, near 1609 Restaurant, which our suite overlooked:
.
The Hamilton Princess is on the harbor, so there's no beach right at the property, but it does have its own beach club in Southampton. A complimentary jitney shuttles guests to the beach club several times a day, and the drive takes about 20 minutes each way.
.
By the beach club there are tennis courts that may be reserved for play, or for a private lesson.
.
The Sinky Bay beach at the beach club is by a very protected and calm cove, perfect for stand up paddle boarding or kayaking. There are even little kayaks for young kids, making this an ideal spot for families. Our son, who prefers body surfing, enjoyed some of the other Southampton beaches more, such as Horseshoe Bay, so don't miss out on exploring additional beaches by arranging a taxi or renting one of the two-person cars that are available to visitors (conventional car rentals aren't available to Bermuda visitors).
.
The Hamilton Princess Hotel Dining and Restaurants
The complimentary Virtuoso breakfast for two guests per room is served at Crown & Anchor Restaurant; if there's a buffet, as there was a couple days of our stay, it's included, otherwise you can order a la carte off the menu.
Our favorite egg dish was the Keto Burrito, served with salsa, where an egg omelet replaces a tortilla and encases a tasty filling of cheese, avocado, bacon and spinach.
.
Buttermilk pancakes were also very good, and our son enjoyed his waffle and fruit plate.
.
When the buffet was available, it was convenient, as there was no wait, and staff graciously helped serve us.
.
Our favorite dining experience at The Hamilton Princess was our dinner at 1609 Restaurant, which is near the hotel's infinity pool. Unfortunately, along with Marcus' the 1609 Restaurant is currently closed, but when the restaurant is open, it typically serves lunch and dinner Thursday-Sunday 11am-10pm. See our above linked review for more.

The Verdict
We enjoyed our stay at The Hamilton Princess in Bermuda. Our One Bedroom Harbour View Suite was still fresh looking, and the size was perfect for our small family, given the sofa bed in the living room. We especially enjoyed the large balcony, with its view of the infinity pool and the harbor, and it's where we always ate in-room dining meals.
The Infinity Pool area was popular, but never looked crowded during our stay. We don't tend to spend much time by the pool, so The Hamilton Princess Beach Club was our favorite place to be by the water. The calm cove is perfect for stand up paddle boarding and for kayaking, even for young children.
During COVID, turndown service is on request, and housekeeping was very prompt when we asked for extra pillows, towels, and Nespresso capsules. Similarly, the Concierge, front desk and restaurant servers were very good, with only one exception–excruciatingly slow service at Crown & Anchor during our one dinner there.
As a conveniently close island getaway, we recommend the Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, especially if wanting to visit the Southampton beaches, since these are closer to the Hamilton Princess than they are to the Rosewood Bermuda (our next Bermuda review–stay tuned!)
