Cathay Pacific Free WiFi in First Class

Cathay Pacific Free WiFi in First Class

.

Cathay Pacific First Class Guests Enjoy Free WiFi effective immediately, on all Cathay Pacific flights equipped with WiFi. Cathay Pacific First Class is one of my favorite first class seats, with just 6 open suites in the cabin and extra wide seats. Pye organic cotton pajamas are also a nice feature, along with high quality amenity kits (previously Aesops products, and now Bamford.) And recently new Cathay Pacific First Class bedding and wellness menus were announced.

One area where Cathay has lagged vis-a-vis competitors has been WiFi, but that's changing, as Cathay installs WiFi throughout its fleet, supplied by Gogo 2Ku satellite technology.

Which Cathay Pacific Flights Have WiFi?

Cathay's A350 aircraft already feature WiFi, although of course those aircraft don't feature First Class.

If you're wondering whether your Cathay Pacific flight on a 777 will have WiFi, here's a clue: look at the Economy class seat map. If it has 9 seats across, in a 3-3-3 configuration, it won't have WiFi.

If it has 10 seats across in Economy, in a 3-4-3 configuration it's not guaranteed to have WiFi, but your chances are better. Here's why: at time of writing, these are the percentages of Cathay's various 777 aircraft that feature WiFi:

  • 77A (77W v. 4, 10 seats across in Economy): 20 of 25 aircraft have WiFi (80%)
  • 77K (77W v. 3, 10 seats across in Economy): 12 of 18 aircraft have WiFi (67%)
  • 77H (77W v. 2, 9 seats across in Economy): 0 of 6 aircraft have WiFi (0%)
  • 77G (77W v. 1, 9 seats across in Economy): 0 of 2 aircraft have WiFi

Even if you're not flying Cathay Pacific First Class, the WiFi price for the entire flight is usually quite reasonable, typically ~$20.
