Ritz-Carlton Moscow Location and Check-In

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow is located at Tverskaya Street 3, just a minute's walk from the Okhotny Ryad Metro Station, and a short stroll to Red Square and the Kremlin, which is visible from the hotel.

We walked over from the Ararat Park Hyatt, near the Bolshoi Theater, which is about a 12-15 minute walk away. As we were staying on the Club Level, it's normally possible to have an associate from the Front Desk escort you to the elevator up to the Club Lounge for check-in there, although as there was no wait at the regular Reception, we checked in there.

Ritz-Carlton Moscow Club Room

We were in a Club Room on the 10th floor. All rooms are 452 square feet (42 square meters) and only differ by view and floor. Superior Rooms are on lower floors, with either city or courtyard views. Deluxe Rooms are on high floors, with city views. Club Rooms and Suites are all on the 10th and 11th floors, with either city views or Red Square views.

Rooms have either 1 king bed or 2 queen beds with a feather bed and down duvets, although non-down bedding can be provided for those with allergies. The rooms are furnished in Empire style, and are classically elegant.

Bathrooms are finished in marble from Russia's Altai Mountains, and have double sinks, as well as a separate toilet chamber and rain shower, in addition to the soaking bath. I definitely preferred this set-up, with the two sinks and toilet closed off from the rest of the bathroom, to the Park Hyatt Moscow.

Bath products, as is typical for Ritz-Carlton, were Asprey Purple Water.

Here's my Ritz-Carlton Moscow YouTube Video Review:

Ritz-Carlton Moscow Club Lounge

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow Club Lounge is open longer than most U.S. and some international club lounges, from 7am-11pm daily. It offers 5 dining presentations:

  • Breakfast: 7-11am
  • Light Lunch: 12noon-3pm
  • Afternoon Tea: 3:30-5pm
  • Evening Appetizers: 6-8pm
  • Desserts & Cordials: 8-11pm

The Club Lounge breakfast during our summer visit included a variety of whole fruit, such as peaches, plums and nectarines, as well as watermelon, orange and grapefruit segments, pineapple, strawberries, cherries and more. There was also a salad bar, smoked salmon and cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, smoothies, cereals, breads and pastries.

There are also made to order egg dishes that can be requested from your server, such as omelets or eggs benedict.

The light lunch and dinner both offered a salad bar, grilled vegetables, breads, cheeses, smoked salmon, unagi, and fresh fruit, but dinner also featured some hors d'oeuvres, such as gazpacho soup, herring with beet, hummus and other dips, plus two hot options of cooked rice and salmon fillet.

Ritz-Carlton Moscow Spa

The Spa offers massages and other spa treatments from 8am-11pm daily, handy for those in Moscow on business trying to squeeze in a treatment early or late.

The swimming pool, sauna and changing rooms are open from 6:30am-12 midnight. The pool isn't a lap pool, but I did see some other guests doing laps, and adults and kids alike enjoyed the jacuzzi. The only issue was that there weren't enough pool loungers around the pool; there really should be a few more, given that the hotel has 334 rooms and suites.

The Verdict

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow is one of my favorite city center Ritz-Carlton hotels, together with the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo and the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, particularly the excellent Club Lounge. Service was unfailingly polite and helpful, the food presentations, especially breakfast, were very good (even if not quite as opulent as when the hotel first opened), and there are great views from the Club Lounge terrace of Red Square and the Kremlin. And while the decor won't be to everyone's taste, the double sinks and separate toilet chamber make the bathroom a step up from the Park Hyatt Moscow.
