Grand Hyatt Hong Kong Location and Check-In
The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is located at 1 Harbour Road on Hong Kong island, about a 5 minute taxi ride from Hong Kong Station (where you can get the Airport Express train to and from Hong Kong Airport), which is in the IFC Mall. It's not as convenient to get to as the Four Seasons Hong Kong, which is attached to the IFC, but it didn't take too long to get to.
The lobby is truly stunning. It is tremendously large, bright, open area, occupying two large floors, with
a lit, oval ceiling, and softly curving lines. Check-in is on the ground floor, and there were no lines when
I was there.
Grand Hyatt Hong Kong King Room
My King room, 1528, was not that spacious, at 430 square feet, but it had an elegant and light, crisp design, with an armchair, desk and work chair, and large flat screen TV. Unfortunately the bed itself was too hard, with an overly firm mattress.
The sliding door separating the bedroom and bathroom could be opened up, for greater space, although those traveling with a companion will want to be sure that it's closed before sleeping, so that if one of you has to go to the bathroom during the night the light doesn't spill into the bedroom.
The lights and shades were operated by a control panel conveniently placed by the nightstand.
There was just one sink, not double sinks, as are more typical at modern luxury hotels. I never used the soaking tub, but it looked spacious and comfortable. The shower was a rain shower, with a regular shower head also available.
Bath products are by June Jacobs, as is typical for Grand Hyatt.
The mini-bar was fully-stocked, and there was also plenty of free bottled water.
The room also came with a Nespresso machine, Nespresso capsules, a hot water kettle, and Twinings tea.

Grand Club Lounge
You'll need to reserve a room or suite with Club access or as a Hyatt elite, use a Club access certificate to enjoy access to the Grand Club lounge. The lounge itself is on the 31st floor, although the reception is on the 30th floor.
I arrived in the late afternoon, in time to enjoy the evening drinks and hors d'oeuvres, which are available between 5:30-7:30pm. There was spicy crab and cucumber sushi, dim sum, Indian cuisine, small sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit, and mini desserts.
There was a reasonable wine selection, and spirits were also available.
The breakfast spread was . There was a wide selection of Eastern and Western favorites. I opted for bircher muesli, dim sum, and a croissant, with a cappuccino, and everything was fresh.
Swimming Pool and Health Club
The fitness center seemed quite well equipped, but it was on the dark side, and I preferred to be outside in the pool.
The pool is extremely large, and has soft, undulating curves. There are plenty of chaise-lounges and
tables with parasols, so there is no need to reserve a place.
The Verdict
I loved my short stay in the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Although the hotel is certainly large and can
accommodate many guests, the overall feeling is very serene and relaxing. The Grand Club is especially
nice with its dramatic views of the harbor, and enjoyable dining. The only thing I disliked was the overly firm mattress, which wasn't nearly as comfortable as those at Four Seasons hotels and resorts.
