Review: Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt T1

Review-Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt T1

This review of a Lufthansa Business Class Lounge, Frankfurt Terminal 1 is from my recent layover after a Singapore Airlines Business Class flight from JFK to Frankfurt, and before a short Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Paris. There are many Lufthansa Business Class lounges at Frankfurt Airport, which can be a bit of a maze to navigate; see the post Frankfurt Airport Connection Time and Lounge Access if you'll have a Frankfurt connection and are looking for tips. Unless you have a very long layover to lounge hop, I recommend first getting to your gates and using a lounge near them, for peace of mind.

Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt Terminal 1 Locations, Hours and Access

Since I was flying within the Schengen area, the closest Lufthansa Business Class Lounge was in Area A near Gate A13, across from the Duty Free Shop and on Level 2. This lounge is open daily from 5am-10pm.

There are other Lufthansa Business Class Lounges in Terminal 1 by the B gates, C gates, and also Z gates (non-Schengen).

Since I was just flying economy on the short FRA-CDG flight, I used one of my two vouchers from my Lufthansa Miles & More credit card. Here's who has access to the lounge:

  • Lufthansa and Star Alliance Business Class passengers with a boarding pass for a same day departing flight
  • Star Alliance Gold members, with a same day boarding pass for a departing Lufthansa or Star Alliance flight
  • Lufthansa and Lufthansa Group (SWISS, Austrian, Brussels Airlines) Premium Economy or Economy passengers who have a valid lounge access voucher (this includes a voucher from the Lufthansa Miles and More card) and hold a boarding pass for a same day departing flight
  • Passengers with a valid Miles & More Frequent Traveler Card and boarding pass for a same day departing Lufthansa, Star Alliance or codeshare flight.

Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt Terminal 1 Area A Amenities

Because of the timing, I had arrived in the middle of the day, but it felt like the morning to me.  Luckily, the Lufthansa lounge had a delicious array of various foods to accommodate travelers coming from a variety of time zones.  The lounge is brightly lit, with an understated and serviceable elegance.  The lounge is relatively large, and has a variety of seating options.

The chairs in the dining area accompany little round tables, that are the perfect size for 1 or 2 travelers, but not more than that.

There is also a seating area with more comfortable armchairs.

There is also a work area, with fairly large work stations with a work surface area that would accommodate a laptop and other papers or devices.

Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt Terminal 1 Area A Food and Dining

I had arrived around mid-day, and the food options were still pretty good.  There were a couple different soups including a beef goulash soup and a vegetable soup:

There were also mini-sandwiches available, which were better than usual, as well as an assortment of meats and cheeses, and some creamy salads, such as coleslaw.

Luckily for me, there was also a buffet of breads and a few desserts, as well as a Nespresso machine.

I chose a vanilla pudding with plum topping, and a cappuccino.

There were also wines and spirits, but I didn't partake.

The Verdict

This was a basic Business Class lounge.  There really weren't any other amenities, excluding free Wifi, a magazine rack, and a basic bathroom.  The staff were polite and helpful.   Although the Lufthansa Business Class lounge may not have many bells and whistles, it is really perfect for what it is: a bright, stylish, and comfortable place to rest and refuel between flights.  And the food was better than I expected.
