The American Airlines AAdvantage Shopping portal is offering 3000 AA bonus miles if you spend $250 or more 12/8/13-12/22/13, in case you missed the previous tiered promotion, which offered up to 2500 AA bonus miles.
Here are the details:
- Promotion dates: 12/8/13-12/22/13 11:59pm EST
- Spend $250 or more, earn 3000 AA bonus miles
- Spend $150-$249.99, earn 2000 AA bonus miles
- Spend $75-$149.99, earn 1000 AA bonus miles
- Allow 8-10 weeks from end of promotional period for bonus miles to post
During the prior promotion, I took advantage of bonuses at Charles Tyrwhitt (16X), Magazines.com (60X) and Minted (16X) to earn the 2500 AA bonus miles. Those miles haven't posted yet, but I'm not surprised, as my prior AAdvantage shopping transaction took 25 days to post, and the terms do say to allow 8-10 weeks.
That said, there are many on Flyertalk that report problems with getting the more lucrative AAdvantage eShopping portal payouts to post, so do factor that potential frustration into your decision as to whether or not to take advantage of this offer. Also, as you'd expect, since we're already well into the prime holiday and gift buying season, there aren't the kind of lucrative promotions such as 18X for Neiman Marcus or 17X for Sears that we saw in October and November. Still, if you've been procrastinating and will be earning AA miles through the AAdvantage shopping portal anyway, keep the tiered bonuses in mind.

Spend a cumulative amount of $75-149.99 to earn 1,000 miles; spend a cumulative amount of $150 – $249.99 to earn 2,000 bonus miles; or spend a cumulative amount of $250 or more to earn 3,000 bonus miles.
