Should you use Hyatt Gold Passport points to pay for dining? One of my Award Booking clients wondered if it would be worth it to use Hyatt Gold Passport points to pay for either the Park Hyatt Paris breakfast buffet or breakfast at the Hyatt Paris Madeleine, since this client is a Hyatt Gold member, not a Hyatt Diamond, so breakfast isn't complimentary.
I do NOT recommend using Hyatt points to pay for dining, although I do recommend EARNING Hyatt points if dining at a Hyatt restaurant or having a treatment at a Hyatt spa. Here's why:
Possible to Pay with Hyatt Gold Passport Points for Dining and Spa…
It is possible to pay with Hyatt Gold Passport points for dining and spa charges. Here's the redemption chart:
…But at Redemption Value of Half a Cent per Hyatt Point Not Worth It
As you can see from the above redemption chart, you're only getting half a cent per Hyatt point, which is terrible value. Most folks value Hyatt points somewhere between 1 to 2 cents per point, so you're only getting 25-50% of their value if you redeem for dining or spa. Even if you have a ton of Hyatt points and more than you can use, it would make more sense to use them for a family member or friend who needs an occasional stay, than to get such a poor redemption value.
