Update on Caribbean Resorts After Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria

 

Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and the major earthquakes in Mexico have wrought havoc for many resorts. Here's a quick update on some of the ones most booked by clients, and where they stand:

Amanera

Damage: minor

Reopening November 1, 2017

Amanera


Amanyara, Turks & Caicos

Damage: minor after Hurricane Irma (but still pending assessment post-Hurricane Maria)

Reopening October 20, 2017

Eden Rock, St. Barths

Damage: significant

Closed until Summer 2018

“Oetker Collection… is working on making the Eden shine again as soon as we can, and plan to be hosting you back starting summer 2018.

The Eden Rock Villa Rental Team is also doing an inventory of our villas and so we are looking forwards to welcoming you in our private homes starting December 2017.”

 

Four Seasons Anguilla

Damage: significant

Closed: Through December 31, 2017 at the minimum; reopening date not yet determined

The sales teams are contacting all guests and travel partners with reservations through December 31, 2017 to advise them of the closure and allow them the opportunity to re-book at a later date.”

 

Four Seasons Florida Resorts (Four Seasons Miami, Four Seasons Palm Beach, Four Seasons Surfside, Four Seasons Orlando)

Damage: some flooding

Heavy winds and strong rain created some issues with flooding and water penetration but cleanup is well underway and landscape restoration is the biggest issue – a huge relief for the teams on the ground. All Florida properties are open for business. “

Four Seasons Mexico City

Damage: none; briefly evacuated but reopened same evening of the earthquake, after being inspected

Remains Open We are open for business as usual as we did not suffer any structural damage to our building.”

Damage: very minor damage

Closed temporarily; expected to reopen soon

Jumby Bay Island, Antigua (Oetker Collection)

Damage: No structural damage, but damage to landscaping and vegetation

Still plans to reopen October 9, 2017

Park Hyatt St. Kitts

Damage: some damage to vegetation

Still plans to open in November, 2018

Parrot Cay by COMO, Turks & Caicos

Damage: No structural damage, but damage to vegetation

Closed until December 1, 2017


Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman

No damage

Remains open

Damage: significant

Closed until further notice. Hotel is waiving cancellation fees through December 31, 2017
