The Seabourn Quest, launched in 2011, is a favorite of my cruise clients. It offers just 226 staterooms on its 8 guest decks, making it a mid-size vessel; it carries less than half the passengers of larger ships such as the Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity and fewer than Seven Seas Mariner, but more passengers than Silversea ships such as Silver Whisper.
As the Seabourn Quest was recently in NYC, as part of a 20 day voyage from Montreal to Barbados, I had the chance to tour her.
We started at the Observation Bar on Deck 10, and since it was a lovely day, I took a couple pictures outside on the deck, and of the Statue of Liberty:
After some delicious foie gras and shrimp hors d'oeuvres and declining a proferred Mimosa, we were on our way to see the ship.
Deck 10 as well as Deck 9 have primarily Penthouse Suites that are 436 square feet, plus a veranda, although unfortunately we weren't able to see any of them because all staterooms (except for one of the entry level staterooms) were occupied.
Going outside, we were able to look at the pool and jacuzzi whirlpools on Deck 8, which also offers the Patio Bar, for light poolside dining. On Seabourne, all dining at all dining venues is included in the fare.
Later on in the tour, we saw the Aft Deck Pool and jacuzzis:
Coming back inside, we were at the center of the ship, where the main staircase spirals down:
I loved the atrium-like feel, with a view of the main pool:
Next, we had a peek at the new The Grill by Thomas Keller restaurant, which was rolled out earlier this year on the Seabourn Quest, and will soon be on the sister ships, the Seabourn Odyssey and the Seabourn Sojourn, as well as on the new Seabourn ships, the Seabourn Encore (launching December 2016) and the Seabourn Ovation, launching in 2018.
Here's the dinner menu:
We also got to see the spa and fitness center. Here's the spa reception:
Since there were guests in part of the fitness center, I was only able to photograph some of the machines:
Especially enticing were the relaxation chairs in the Serene area. This part of the spa is complimentary if you book a Penthouse Spa Suite or are in another suite type and book a spa treatment.
A very popular place is Seabourn Square, affectionately known as the “Living Room.” We saw more current guests there, during our visit, than any other part of the ship, including the pool area and the Observation Bar. And why not? There's a coffee bar, again complimentary, so you can enjoy your favorite espresso drink and sandwich or pastry while meeting up with friends, old or new.
The main dining room has soaring ceilings and I loved the fresh roses on each table:
While we were only able to see the very lowest category of suite, I was impressed that even this entry level stateroom had double sinks (not even all luxury hotel bathrooms have that) and a separate bathtub and shower.
Here's some video I took aboard the Seabourn Quest:
