Review: Blue Water Bistro, Turks and Caicos

This Blue Water Bistro Review is one of our several Turks and Caicos posts, from our recent site inspections.

Blue Water Bistro Location and Hours

Blue Water Bistro is the beachside restaurant of Wymara Resort, situated at 218 Lower Bight Road in Grace Bay West in Turks and Caicos. It's about an 11 minute drive from the Providenciales International Airport (PLS), and also a 10-13 minute drive from Grace Bay Club.

The restaurant serves lunch from 11 am to 6pm daily, and dinner from 6-10pm daily.

Blue Water Bistro Menu and Food

As you'd expect, the Blue Water Bistro menu leans toward seafood appetizers, salads, and main dishes, although there are also some chicken and meat dishes.

Our hosts ordered a few different appetizers, of which I tried the Blue Crab and Shrimp Spring Rolls with Spiced Plum Dipping Sauce, and the Coconut Tiger Prawns with Chile Ancho Sauce. I slightly preferred the spring rolls, with a crispy exterior and delicious filling. The coconut prawns were tasty but a bit overcooked.

The highlight was the restaurant's signature Caribbean seafood claypot with mahi-mahi, prawns, scallops, and grouper in a coconut curry sauce, with red bean rice. Even though I was ravenous, I didn't manage to finish all of it, so it would make an excellent dish for two to share, supplemented with a salad or appetizer.

A dining companion raved about her Crispy Fried Red Snapper with Grilled Plantains and Creole Gravy, served atop rice. Since this is a whole fish, keep in mind that you'll need to pick out bones.

The Verdict

I recommend Blue Water Bistro, especially for seafood preparations such as the Caribbean seafood claypot and the whole spiced crispy red snapper. The spring rolls and jumbo coconut prawn appetizers were good, but pricey for the portion size and not as good as the seafood mains.
