Punta Mercedes Restaurant Review, Punta Mita

Punta Mercedes Restaurant Review, Punta Mita

.

This Punta Mercedes Restaurant Review is from our recent Punta Mita site inspection visit, which included the Four Seasons Punta Mita and Conrad Punta de Mita (reviews forthcoming).

.

Punta Mercedes Location and Hours

Punta Mercedes is located at Av. El Anclote 341 in downtown Punta Mita, about a 22 minute walk from the lobby of the Four Seasons Punta Mita, or a 6-7 minute golf card ride if you have a golf cart included with your villa rental (TravelSort assists with Four Seasons Punta Mita private villa rentals, which we reserve with Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits that include a $200 resort credit per villa bedroom). The restaurant is open daily 12noon-11pm, and we highly recommend reserving in advance, since it's popular. We also recommend requesting an outside table by the water, so as to enjoy a nice view.

Punta Mercedes Dinner Menu and Food

Punta Mercedes serves Italian pizzas and pastas, but it's more eclectic than that; it also offers wood fire grilled meats and seafood, ribs with bbq sauce, and Thai-style lettuce wraps and eggplant.

Our server who was friendly and spoke English perfectly, brought some delicious warm homemade bread, accompanied by a balsamic dip, after we ordered and before our dishes came.

Our son ordered the Mia pizza with goat cheese, tomatoes and basil and added sausage to it while requesting to have the eggplant on the side, which was accommodated. While not thin crust, it was fresh, tasty, and big enough for two to share when accompanied by the salad we ordered.

The Beet and Pear Salad we ordered as our vegetable was a delicious contrast of textures and flavors, thanks to the sweetness of the beet and pear, the tangy ginger dressing and soft goat cheese, and the crunchy pecans.

.

Perhaps our favorite dish was the Fettuccini Funghi, with the earthiness of the mushrooms and Argentinean sausage paired with al dente pasta.

The final dish we tried was a side dish of Thai eggplant, which was just MXN 60 ($3). Perfect for anyone who likes their eggplant crunchy, it was fried, slightly spicy cubed eggplant, garnished with sesame seeds. Tasty, if on the rich side.

The Verdict

We enjoyed our dinner at Punta Mercedes, especially our table by the water with a view of the sunset, the pizza, and the mushroom fettuccini. Service was friendly and gracious, and prices were reasonable, at under $15 per pizza or pasta dish and just $8 for an excellent salad. The only thing we didn't care for wasn't within the restaurant's control: the many hawkers on the beach, who were constantly trying to catch our eye to sell us something. Recommended for guests who want to have a dinner outside the resort when staying at the Four Seasons Punta Mita.
