Where is Nihi Sumba? How Do You Get There?

Nihi Sumba is located on Sumba Island, with Sumba's Tambolaka Airport (TMC) a 50 minute flight from Bali Denpasar (DPS). Daily flights are operated by Wings Air and Garuda, departing Bali DPS at 10:20am and 1:05pm respectively, with returning flights departing TMC at 11:15am (Garuda) and 12:05pm (Wings Air).

Note that it's a good 1 hour 45 minute drive from the TMC airport to the resort, and a shared roundtrip transfer is $275 for a couple or $470 for a private car for a maximum of 4 people.

How Luxurious is Nihi Sumba?

Nihi Sumba is on a remote Indonesian island and isn't the Four Seasons, so this is not the place for those who want pampering and English skills similar to the Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru or Cheval Blanc Randheli. That said, it's a beautiful location, with very comfortable villas, good food, very friendly and hospitable staff (even if not all of them speak English well) and excellent expat managers. It's ideal for those who like to be active, whether surfing, kitesurfing, horseback riding, hiking, or mountain biking, and/or enjoy yoga and spa treatments for relaxation.
